Dry/Raw combination.
My staffy: Milo is a big boy. He's 42cm high now, but as far as I know he's a full Staffordshire Bull Terrier (saw his mum, his dad has papers). A friend of mine, who owns two Amstaffs, gave me advice that I should make a change to raw food. Because there's a risk that Milo is growing too fast, which can give problems to his joints. But I'm very happy with Milo's dry food, so I decided to mix the two.
He's 12,5 kg (no fat, whatsoever. Can feel his ribs and see them when he runs) now and he's almost 22 weeks old. Milo gets two meals a day, 200 grams of dry food (Nutro: Naturals Choice, large breed, puppy) and 250 grams of Smuldier (it's a Dutch brand, I think).
The meat consists of:
Smuldier Vlees Kompleet beef (80%), liver, heart, sheep fat, veggies, sunflower oil, vitamines en minerals.
Does this seem like a good diet to you? My vet is a bit biased to the brands that she sells, because she earns money of it. I rather have some advice from Staffy owners.

Re: Dry/Raw combination.
My own personal opinion is that a pup will grow as his body tells him! If you feed a good quality food then he'll get what his body needs & he'll grow the way his genes dictate. Obviously if you overdo things like too much calcium you could get problems, but it won't make them grow too quickly.
By all means try raw feeding if you want, but if you're happy with the way things are going then stick with it. Whilst I wouldn't personally feed Natural Choice (far too high in wheat & grains), the other food seems good from the description you've given.

Thanks for the advice!
Is there a particular brand of dry food that you suggest that I'd give? Are you familiar with the brand: Taste of the Wild? It seems like a good brand of dry food, maybe I can switch over to that. Milo loves dry food and he loves the raw meat, I already did a trial run. I still have about 8 kg's left of Naturals Choice, so I'll finish that first and maybe I can switch. Should I switch over to adult food?

Re: Dry/Raw combination.
You could switch to adult now, he's nearly 6 months, isn't he? I know some manufacturers say later, but I don't think it makes much difference.
Taste of the Wild is a very good food, so is Millie's Wolfheart & Eden, but I don't know if you can get those where you are?
You could also try a good, fish-based dry food such as Fish4dogs (I think you can get that there) or a similar one - just try and make sure that it's grain free to lessen the chances of allergies/intolerances.

Re: Dry/Raw combination.
No, exactly. I think I'll try Taste of the Wild, Pacific Stream Canine after I'm done with Naturals Choice. So he'll get a fish/meat diet. He has some red spots under his left arm pit, what looks like a rash. He's not covered with it, just a few. Maybe this came from the grain/wheat in Nutro? It became less now I switched changed his diet slightly.

It could be that. Keep an eye on it, though, just in case it's something else.

Re: Dry/Raw combination.
Wow, it did help. He's actually getting broader and his rash almost completely disappeared. Best choice I've made!
