Where do you walk in the dark?
Just wondering what everyone does walking wise now it's dark in the mornings. I'm normally out walking at 6am most days. I've got two parks nearby which I will walk in the dark. I've also got a nature reserve and a walk by a little river which frankie loves. I won't walk either of these in the dark, mainly because I know I'd end up falling in the river or something!! I do sometimes get a bit tense when walking in the dark.
Frankie can be a bit unpredictable if dogs run into him, which in the light is fine because he can see them, but he gets a bit worried in the dark, but that's something I'm working on.
Does walking in the dark bother anyone else? Just thought it would be good to hear what everyone else does.....

I'm lucky really because my son does almost all of Darcy's walks but she has a light up collar too

I sometimes walk Bru in the park when it's getting dark in the evenings. However there was an incident in my town recently where two men forcibly tried to take a woman's dog from her so my partner isn't happy about me walking Bru alone if there's not many people about.

I don't really walk Mia in the dark. But if I did I would be quite nervous as you never know who's about. Would def take a torch and some pepper spray just in case.

Rocky also has an LED lit up collar for night time, I would avoid quiet areas at night and stick to busy built up places.

Re: Where do you walk in the dark?
Frankie is always on his long line. There's often other dog walkers in the park which is good for peace of mind but difficult if they run into frankie. I feel bad just walking round the town when he's going to be on his own while we're at work. I do have a rape alarm which hopefully il never have to use!!!!

Re: Where do you walk in the dark?
nope walking in the dark doesn't bother me, most of our walks are in the middle of the night regardless of the time of year so i enjoy it, and we walk where ever i fancy on the day.

Re: Where do you walk in the dark?
I'm a scardey too I am really unsure what to do now it's dark in the mornings and evenings. Oz lives a good old run around in the park and I do feel tight walking the streets. I may try the park in the dark mornings but def not in the evenings OH not bothered he takes him in the park at night at least there are a couple of other dog owners o
In a morning. The only thing us if a loose dog runs at Oz he would have it and a real good go. After least when it's light I can have eyes in the back of my head.

Re: Where do you walk in the dark?
I walk Vin on the roads now its dark, It is a main road so plenty of street lights and a big garage.
Do go in the woods in the evening only cause the OH is with me and a huge torch, but we have to be careful of the wild Boar.

Re: Where do you walk in the dark?
Well-lit street walks when it's dark. I'm not overly scared of being raped/having my dog stolen etc although obviously I'm cautious, but the risk of me falling over/slipping on mud/falling in the river is greater.

I sort of think that the person , people , armed gang , snatch squad that tried to take Ella on would very much regret it and it would be a far better lesson learnt than anything the criminal justice system in this country xould dish outella wrote:thanks, but honestly i'm just not bothered, i love walking at night when it's nice and quietdebs0109 wrote:Your a brave woman Ella

We walk the fields - off lead if it's not completely dark - on lead if it is.
Going to get my pair of woolly wallys flashing LED collars shortly.

Re: Where do you walk in the dark?
Our 2 don't stray away from us - in fact sometimes they get under our feet even when they're off their leads. We finish work at 4 and can be out with the girls by 4.20 so it's not completely dark by then - well only for about 4 weeks of the year. Really, really wish they wouldn't mess around with the clocks!!
