Fireworks!
I can actually hear fireworks!
Some people are such C WORDS. Not only is it over two weeks early, it's half ten at night! There are kids in bed!
Luckily Bruno is sleeping through it. But I'm raging!

Re: Fireworks!
Drives you nuts, doesn' it?
I know I'm a scrooge, but I can't see the point of buying fireworks. You might just as well set fire to 6 or 7 £10 notes!
If you like them, go to an organised display where they have the commercial fireworks you can't buy in the shops. They're more spectacular & a lot safer!

I agree caryll, I personally wish they'd ban the sale of them to joe public and only be allowed in organised events

When I was a child, I loved Bonfire Night.
When I had children, I loved Bonfire Night.
One night of the year, so if we had pets we knew what we had to do for that night.
Now it's crazy, they've started already? And it will go on until mid-November. Brief lull and then another 2weeks around New Year.
I understand what you're saying above about organised events, but we had so much pleasure from our little back-yard displays. If only there could be a restriction that fireworks, whether back-yard or public events, were limited to November 5th and December 31st ONLY then not only pet owners but ordinary citizens who don't appreciate whizz-bangs could take whatever measures necessary for just those 2 nights a year.

Re: Fireworks!
Seems they started here tonight too, Ledger went crazy about 6pm (he had been sleeping upstairs so away from the tv noise)

Re: Fireworks!
Same around here recently all going off. Big thing to remember is never ever fuss em while its going on... marley has always been okay with them as far as I knew until last year when one went off while we were out in the park. I innocently petted him and he turned into a nervous wreck almost immediately. It took nealy 3 days of ignoring him and reinforced training before he didnt flinch when the went off. Its a very fine line which is easy to cross by mistake

Re: Fireworks!
Absolutely damned annoying, they shouldn't sell them any earlier than a day or so before Bonfire night!

Erghhhhh they make me rage too, we had some going off a couple of weeks ago. Rocky barks at every one that goes off and takes ages to settle down again afterwards. I agree with going to an organised display and not having them available to the public. There are incidents every year of some idiot injuring themselves or someone else and it's always the innocent that suffer - our beloved pets.
