Histiocytoma
Has anyones pet ever encountered a Histiocytoma? or does anyone have any knowledge on them?
i know a bit about them having read up on them but i haven't spoke to anyone who has experienced one and what happened as a result?
I think Cass has one on his rear paw. He's due in at the vets tonight and it's appeared out of nowhere, he hasn't limped/ been off his food or changed behaviour, it was by chance i found it when he was laying over me. i do know it wasn't there before i went on holiday as i checked him before i went away.

Re: Histiocytoma
Moo has had a benign tumour, scared the life out of me, but its apparently quite common and went away on its own accord. Good luck at the vets Xx

Re: Histiocytoma
i believe they are more common in dogs up to the age of 2. my problem with it being on his foot, its prone to bleed because he spends the majority of time on his feet, more so when hes walking/ running about.janey wrote:Moo has had a benign tumour, scared the life out of me, but its apparently quite common and went away on its own accord. I'll see what the vet says tonight.

Re: Histiocytoma
so the vet gave me 2 options. she confirmed it was a histiocytoma. they attempted to take blood from it, but as you know staffs are very strong and he wasn't having any of it.
her suggestion being a) leave it for a couple of months to see if it does go away or b) they remove the lump by surgery....
not really sure what to do? they put the decision on me.

Re: Histiocytoma
Its a tough one as where it is, personally I would I would leave it, there are ways to keep it covered so the scab isn't constantly knocked and its only for x amount of weeks, I assume they agree its benign?
It really is your call, same when Moo had hes and I waited it out, but it wasn't in an annoying spot.
What are your thoughts as it really is your call? Xx
