I be home!
The people I work for are really nice! When I told them how far I had to travel to get home, they said I could do half days on Fridays so that I can get home early and miss the rush hour!
Talked mum's ear off in the kitchen while I ate the lovely dinner she cooked for me! Nom nom! Then carried on knitting once my dinner was all finished. The snood I'm working on only needs another foot or two before it's done!
Home sweet home! And we're going to see my brother tomorrow, which'll be nice!

Re: I be home!
That was very good of them to allow you home early on a Friday, that will save some stress driving through the traffic on a Friday night, I hate that

Re: I be home!
I talk a mile a minute, so it probably wasn't too much fun for mum!
Everything's going really well! Glad I get to come home at weekends though.
Yeah, it was really nice of them! They're a very friendly bunch! A bit abrupt when you're not used to them, but I don't mind that. I actually prefer that sort of attitude with animals around!

Re: I be home!
Thanks everyone! Hard to believe, roughly this time last week, I'd convinced myself that I wasn't going to get the placement!
Dempsey gave me a very waggy hello and some kisses

A mile a minute? More like 10 miles a minute!
They're a good bunch up there - friendly, but I can trust them, if you know what I mean.

I'm so glad that it's all working out for you Eleanor. And your employers sound like employers from heaven! It must be great to have a job you really enjoy.

Re: I be home!
Yeah, I wasn't expecting to have half Fridays!
It really is nice to have friendly employers. I did some work experience a while ago at a reptile centre and grooming parlour and my employer was evil! As soon as I got there, she bustled around to the hundreds of reptile vivariums, vaguely pointed at a dozen of them and informed me that they were likely to bite me, then ordered me to get to work changing the food and water bowls over. In one day there, a venemous tarantula, a tree frog, a spaniel from the grooming parlour and a gecko all escaped. They were recovered, but the spaniel actually got into the busy road outside!
A box of feed locusts also sprung a leak at one point, with all the locusts hopping around on the floor, and she didn't bat an eyelid!
After all of that, I had to lug around musty sacks (which were taller than me!) full of damp bedding.
And to make matters worse, on the course I've just completed, I was talking to one of the lecturers and he told me that he would never buy anything from there (didn't mention the exact name, as he wasn't allowed to, but he hinted heavily) as several of the reptiles in the reptile centre of the course had, in fact, been rescued from there. Including my favourite Bearded Dragon, Little Dude, who had brain damage and Metabolic Bone Disease due to poor care in his early life.
So yeah, I consider myself lucky that I have nice employers who actually care about the animals this time!
