HELP?
I hope someone is online.
I know its' like 00:20am, but I was just outside having a cigarette and a Staffy bitch just walked straight up to me, and into my house, it has a collar but no contact information, we don't know her name.
I've took her for a twenty minute walk to see if she could lead me to her house, but she just rerouted straight back to mine..
Can you recommend me to do anything?
We are back home now, and shes lying down on my living room floor.
I have given her a bowl of water, because someone on the same street just told me that he saw the bitch wandering around yesterday aswell..
Can anyone help mee asap??

Re: HELP?
hhmmm don't know where you are, but could you phone your local shire ranger and just enquire if anyone has reported their dog missing??
is she is good condition or does she look neglected? could you ask around if anyone knows where she comes from? people may be frantically looking for her.. or on the other hand .. not !
sorry I can't help much.

Re: HELP?
I would post up flyers and post messages to the lost and found section of craigslist. Don't include a picture or description of her in the flyers/posts. Just maybe say female dog and have anyone who wants to claim her give you a full description before you give her to them. I would also call AC and ask if anyone has reported a missing dog. If you can, I would keep her for a week or two before surrendering her to AC or a shelter to give her a better chance of finding her family.

Re: HELP?
Hey guys, thanks for your replies.
Well, its' just gone 8am here, and she stayed with us last night, ended up coming into our bedroom and getting onto our bed..
She just laid there and fell asleep, she seems so happy this morning, I think its because she was in a warm house for once.
Im just off to buy some food for her for her breakfast, then i've got to go to work, but my girlfriend is going to take her for a walk later on, to try and find her owners, if not, then its bback here for now then..
I'll type up some flyers when I get in after work.
Thanks!

Re: HELP?
You have to get intouch with the dog warden, they'll take her for now and put her into kennels where she'll stay for about 2 weeks and if she isn't claimed then you get first choice to re-home. Sounds harsh but there could be someone out there thats lost her.

Re: HELP?
Yeah my girlfriend will take her to the vets if she cant find her owner later on.
I don't actually know who to contact about dog wardens/kennels. We've never had to deal with something like this before.
I live in Cannock in Staffordshire, England by the way!

Re: HELP?
I know it sounds nasty, but we actually don't want to keep this dog.
We lost our dog of nearly ten years just over a month ago. It's still hard seeing a dog in the house..
It seems weird having one in our house so quickly, we just want her to find her home, or a new one as safely as possible.

That's your best bet & at least then, if she doesn't find her old owners, she'll get new ones that have been fully checked by the rescue centre.
May I just say, though, that considering how you've just lost your poor dog and don't want another just yet, I think you've done a really nice thing, taking her in and seeing that she finds a good home. Well done to you. I wish there were more people like you around!
