Need some help quick

We have had 2 bad days with Milly and Lady it seems to be when their is food about. Milly really goes for Lady and I mean full on we have to pull her off. This happened 3 times yesterday and once this morning I have put Milly in the crate each time and it has not continued when she has come out but it is really scary and any advice please would be welcome.

are they eating out of the same bowl?

Tracie I really can't help, sorry, doesn't sound like Milly though. I know others here have delt with it here though so please don't worry too much x

No they have seperate Steve but last night I was sat on couch with a biscuite and they both came over I tiold them to go away and then Milly went for lady reaslly bad so it not just food in their bowls

Is Milly ok if you or the family take food from her, or is it just with Lady?

I know it does not sound like her Janey she is so gentle but it is really scary my OH has said if she hurts Lady that is it, so we not talking and it is really upsetting me. They both had a bone tonight and no problems but I am on edge all the time

Caryll I could put my head in her bowl with her and she fine

she trying to bominate lady sound like, what i would do is see the sign befoe she attack and put milly in her place, if she doesn't listen i would tell her off and place in the crate.

I think Steve's right, she's trying to up her place in the pecking order. You either need to feed them seperately or watch her like a hawk & correct her as soon as she shows the first signs of going. Same with bicuits & the family. If she goes for Lady & one of you are in the way she might get you instead.

is it something she will stop doing or is it always going to be like this and sometimes Steve I cannot see the signs. Milly is massive at the side of Lady now and i think she would really hurt her I am really upset about it

watch her look for the sign my billie use try to stand above my xena or her ear used to go back. you have put a stop it before it happen.

If you can't see the warning signs then you may have to think about feeding them in seperate rooms, and no * bits when they are together.

it's becasue they both females and milly wanting be higher than lady.

but you want to put a stop to it now while milly stil la puppy becasue longer it carry on harder it will be to stop.

At the moment it's just a food thing, and hopefully if you nip it in the bud now, it'll stay that way. But if she's allowed to get her own way she might think she can be like it in other situations as well.

I'm sure, though, that if you're quick, firm and consistant it'll be ok.

it may help, but you really want to teach her it's wrong to behave like that it should be a join effort from all the family not just your job

You will have trouble if you dont nip it in the bud now its definatly pecking order and millie is challenging lady now it could get nasty if you dont act.
Like the others have said no feeding * bits. You wont see the behaviour when there is 2 like the bones you will only see it when there is a challenge to be made like who gets the biscuit first and if the door goes who gets to greet first ect take the challenge away and you have better chance of harmony, if you let it go at this stage as soon as they meet milly will dominate and to a stafford thats a fight good luck and keep control
