Star Baking

Post by Mandz Sun Oct 06 2013, 13:49

I've had a week off work this week so thought I'd try some baking. I'm not the best cook, it's a standing joke with my OH that whenever I cook something new, it's edible but it never goes quite right. I told my OH I'd bake a Victoria sponge as it's his favourite. He was expecting to come home to me in a grump saying I can't bake. And he came home to this...

It's not perfect but it tasted amazing (if I do say so myself!!). This afternoon I'm gonna try a lemon drizzle tray bake as well as cooking a roast Smile

Oooo mandy that looks delicious. Do you add a little cornflour to the mix ? as this makes for a very light sponge.

I haven't heard of using cornflour, will try that next time!

I'm tying to be good too but cake is just too tempting!!! My OH could eat the whole thing and not put on a pound!

If anyone would like to share some very, VERY, simple recipes, I'd like to try baking a few things. I'm a total disaster in the kitchen usually though - hence Asda ready meals most nights. Any ideas for idiot-proof cakes more than welcome Big Grin

I love baking! Don't get to do it much anymore, as the family is on a diet and I rarely eat any of the stuff I bake. Tongues
