Hey!
I have for a long time wanted to get a SBT. The only thing is that I have 3 kids, my youngest being only 1 year. Is it too early? I reckon a dog will have to be extremely tolerant towards kids. Will this be a problem, so I should wait until my youngest is around 3-4 or so?
I try to read what ever material about the SBT I come across, but does anyone have any tips/advice? I know it's important to pick a serious breeder, since this race have shown signs of "overbreeding" in the last decades...
Thanks in advance!

Re: Hey!
Hi & welcome to the forum.
A puppy would be fine with a one year old, although you'd need to teach them to respect the pup's need for occasional peace & quiet! You'd also have to watch them when they were together because, let's face it, all pups nip!
If it's a pup you're after, the first port of call would be to contact the kennel club for a list of their assured breeders. At least then you'd have some basic assurance that the pup's parents would have all the necessary health tests done.
You could also join your local Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Club (I'd point you in the right direction, but you don't say where you live) and they might also be able to advise you.

Re: Hey!
Thanks for the advice.
Yeah, I'm aware of that we will have to watch over the youngest ones all the time. I've grown up with dogs, only different breed
I'm from Norway, and have already been searching the Kennel Club's recommendations at their websites I will probably wait with getting a puppy for another year or so, since we probably will move to another house in a while.

Re: Hey!
Yes, maybe a young puppy wouldn't be ideal if you're going to move soon. In another year or so your youngest will be old enough to understand basic dog rules as well.
Please don't be a stranger in the meantime, though! Stick around & join in with the chat!

Re: Hey!
Hi and welcome from me and Charlie
When we bought Charlie home at 8 weeks old, my eldest was 6 and my twins were 3.he was brilliant with them all from the get go. He obviously nipped now and then, but he grew out of that very quickly. Charlie is 3 this month and I have a new baby who is 4 months old and Charlie is amazing with him, just like he is with the others. My older three have been brought up to respect dogs, and my baby will be bought up the same way.
