Optimism Squashed :(
Wow, the road to being fur parents seems really long and torturous for us. We were SO close this time too. While I am slightly disappointed that this just isn't the time for us to adopt a new Fur baby, I'm not discouraged.
Monday on the way to work, my car stopped running in the middle of the road just out of the clear blue sky!!! So I got it tow'd home and found out later that evening that the alternator is toast. So I have to get a new one. But a new one costs $119 + tax and our puppy was going to cost $250 ( we had $150 saved up towards the cost to adopt the pup, but we just had to spend that on my stupid car) * LAUGHS * because though I'm Irish, I seem to have the WORST luck in the world lol.
Today, I got the phone call from the humane society letting me know that the pups will be 8 weeks old Next Friday, and to set up an appointment to go see them at that time, but unfortunately, it isn't enough time for us to get that $250. Phooey!
Our application is still in and will be on their file for a year. So once we get the money saved back up again (at least we now know the price of adopting a puppy) we can go back in and see what they have

Oh, I guess what's going to make it the hardest to save up the money, is also because I'm going in on October 10th to consult with a surgeon about when to do Surgery on my knee, I guess when I dislocated my knee at our wedding a little over a year ago, I also tore my ACL completely in half. LOL. see, NOT a lucky person

Re: Optimism Squashed :(
Oh dear, Tara, you are having such a struggle to get your fur baby!
But I love your optimism and common sense - Fate has a way of working these things out and the perfect puppy for you will surely come along at the right time for both of you.
Meanwhile, you'll need that wretched alternator so get mobile again!
Is it worth explaining to the humane society what has happened, and asking them if they will accept staged payments for the pup?
Finally for now, I wish you all the best of luck with getting your knee mended as soon as possible.
Do keep us updated as to how you get on with all 3 of these glitches (pup, alternator, knee). Wishing you the best of luck

Maybe it is fate, you will not be able to be up and about if you have knee surgery. Next time around you will have full health.

Thanks Everyone. I really truly appreciate the moral support. some people look at my Husband and I like we are absolutely nuts to be this determined to get a puppy and do not understand why it is so important to us. I usually always try to go with the lame "Well, we feel that kids should grow up with pets in the home." but no one ever buys into that. *laughs*
We did try to see if they would take installments but unfortunately they're not able to do it that way.
I do strongly believe that things happen the way they do for a reason. This week we are also dog sitting for my Father in Law. He has 3 Toy Pomeranian's and they are extremely spoiled. And even though they have only been here for less than 24 hours, having them here in my home is teaching me stuff about my self that I didn't know lol. We're enjoying them though. The kids are happy for now.
