Friend had her dog PTS today

My best friend, who lives down south while I'm up north, so I don't see her enough - she's just texted to say that Mason has been PTS. He was a Weirmaramer - sorry spelling c**p - I don't know what to say to her

Oh, no. What was wrong?

Cancer - he's had lumps and bumps for years, he was 10

ahh must be horrible for her,cant imagine how she must be feeling,all you can do is let her talk when she is ready,had the dog been suffering for long?

no he didn't suffer, he was the most spoilt dog ever  she is heartbroken - her partner dumped her not long after they got the dog and mason kind of replaced her partner for the last 9 years, in that she spoilt him as much as she would have done her partner. the last time we visited, we ordered a takeaway and mason had his own :-) and I remember he had fresh tripe one day and we all had to stand in the garden it smelled so bad

So sorry to hear about your friends dog, it's never easy finding the right words but I'm sure she will know that you are thinking of her xx

I'm sure your friend is comforted to know that you are sharing her pain.

She can also take comfort from knowing (remind her if you need to!) that she gave Mason a very good life, he was happy all his days and when a cure was not be he was kindly and gently released before he suffered.

It is always difficult. Really nothing to say but support and love. Sorry to hear about the cancer. It is hard to see a dog suffer.

Aww Jo that's so very sad I'm sorry for your friends loss rip little man, run free at rainbow bridge.

He was a beautiful dog Jo, and I'll bet he had the best life a dog could dream of, and a more peaceful end than many humans could dream of. Which is all we can do for our dogs for the relatively short time they grace us with their presence.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear this, such a horrible thing to happen He was a gorgeous boy too! RIP Mason run free!

I am so sorry for your friend's loss. I suppose the only advice I can give is a) write her a letter/card - it means so much getting something through the post b) remember that the loss you feel when you lose a loved one can go on for a very long time. She will need your support and advice just as much in six months/a year's time. I am happy that Mason had a good life: tripe + dogs =
