So proud of my Betsy Boo
I realised that when I've used this forum it's been for advice and "problems" so I thought it was about time I blew Betsy trumpet
We recently started agility training and have one week left to go. Betsy has been amazing- she absolutely loves the tunnel. The joy on her face when she runs through to me at the other end is a picture. Yesterday she did the A frame with no trouble at all. Betsy does struggle being in a close proximity with other dogs. However it is good training for me to get her attention and keep it fun. We are going to sign up for the next lot of classes, so hopefully in time Betsy will realise that it's all ok.
For those of you that haven't tried agility/training courses with your dogs, I highly recommend it. Our bond has deepened so much more. When Betsy is off/on lead she checks for me more than she did. Betsy's recall has so far been 100% with a ball, but I am trying not to be too reliant on this. The other day she went to do her usual run over to peeps. I called an excited "Come" and she came! This is amazing for Betsy as in her world she wants to go up to everyone and share the love.
Betsy also has a high prey drive and with lots of training on the long lead and ball we have finally managed to walk off lead for about a 300 yard stretch with woodland either side and her not running off. Yeeeeeaaaaah!
It's still early days and we'll continue learning with everyday, but she has come on heaps and bounds in the year and a half that she came home. Thanks largely to the great advice and support we've had from here.
To sum it up- I love my Betsy Boo- she rescued me the day I found her at the rescue
