New pup
Hi, we have just got our 9 week old boy, will post some pics when I fathom how to do it!!, would really like some advice on getting him used to his lead as we are able to take him out next week end. He hates it, I'v tried letting him play with it first but his cries are piercing and it upsets me to see him so distressed, would appreciate any advice, thanks

Re: New pup
Hi Tracey , patience , you have a few weeks yet to get him used to the lead before he can go out , is he ok with his collar as thats the first step ?? Is the lead a really light one ?? have you tried just having it on and not holding it so he is used to it just dragging round behind him ?? some high value treats and plenty of distractions ( favourite toy etc) will work wonders

Re: New pup
Welcome Tracy and Gordon!
Good advice above - just take it slow and steady and don't panic. I've never had a pup yet that took to its collar and lead straight off.
Another miracle happens when the pup realises that a collar and lead spells Walkies! and they get to sniff wonderful new smells and meet other dogs and the wonder of it all distracts them from the funny thing around their neck and the umbilical cord to their owner. Remember only to do 5-10 minute walks at first though while he's still tiny.
Don't worry, he will get used to it and accept it!

Re: New pup
Hi Lynda thanks for replying, we put his collar on for an hour this afternoon, and although he did sulk, ( went behind the sofa and refused to look at us lol) he did seem to get used to it, thanks for all the replys, it has really put my mind at rest

Aww Tracy, darcy was awful in the early collar-lead days she use to hide in her crate so she didn't have to go
