car drivers slow down
our daily walk with sash means we have to walk down a country lane to get to the fields we walk in,it has a 20 mph at the start of the lane a 20 mph at the end and a 60 mph in the middle ,the lane is only just wide enough for a largest van and if 2 cars meet then one has to wait in a gap in the hedge row so the other can get by,dog walkers use the lane a lot as there is so many different walks you can do from it,im getting sick of idiot car drivers that dont slow down when they see us,i have to make sure sash is right in the hedge row ,im thinking of writing to the council to complain of the speed limit,i'm sure there will be a bad accident soon, makes me cross as drivers look at me like we should'nt be walking down there

Re: car drivers slow down
They are awful Stella, on hols last year the car broke down and had to be towed to a garage. Vin wasn't allowed in the cab with us so I decided to walk back to holiday cottage.
Omg it was like taking our life in our hands sooooooo narrow and I found myself running round the bends. Hence 3 miles later we arrived safely!

Re: car drivers slow down
Contacting the council sounds like a good idea Stella. To have a 60 mph limit on a single track road, particularly if it regularly used by pedestrians, sounds like an oversight by the council.

Re: car drivers slow down
I definitely ring the council and try and get them to lower the speed limit, sounds like an accident waiting to happen

Re: car drivers slow down
That's horrible, people have no consideration! Definitely phone the council and see what can be done!

Re: car drivers slow down
I think an email to the local council would be a great idea Stella, along with some photos of dog walkers if you can get them.

Re: car drivers slow down
We have a quiet road, which we must cross to get to the meadows, and it has a 20mph limit. It also has a chicane as a traffic calming measure, but every now and then we'll see a ( usually young but not always) driver speeding through the chicane. Irritates the hell out of me. I gave the "crazy" sign to one driver and he stopped and got out of his car, obviously to remonstrate ( or worse ). At that point one of my neighbours came round the corner and he got back into his car and drove off.

Contacting the council couldn't hurt! Hopefully they'll take notice!

Re: car drivers slow down
It wont hurt to contact the council, but I dont reckon it will stop the drivers who want to drive fast! Like you I have country roads to walk on, so I try not to if at all.
