We sometimes get a small box at Christmas, but I'm not a fan. They're quite soft and have a relatively strong taste.

I've never been able to afford anything with truffles in it, but I understand that very small shavings and put on certain dishes. My posh sister has tasted them and didn't like - she said they had a VERY strong mushroom taste.

i love mushroom so i may like them but it's very unlikely i will never go anywhere posh enough to have them on the menu rolling on the floor

I thought that about caviar, Caryll, but I tried it and fell in love with the stuff and would have it every day if I could. I'm betting i'd feel the same about truffles.

They are underwhelming. Had a couple of times. They aren't bad tasting or anything, but honestly in most dishes they are just a very small portion of what is there. It does work with the taste and with some things it tastes nice, but I'm sure that most of the attraction is the exclusivity of having truffles.

Looks just like something id pull the dogs away from on a walk!!! Think ill stick to tesco value mushrooms...and btw there only value cos they have a bit of peet on the stems lol... could never get my head around value veg being any dif from posh stuff
