I need to do this more often!

Plaited my hair yesterday while I was tidying my brother's room, as it's gotten really long now and it kept falling into my face even if I put it in a ponytail. Usually, again because of the length, it gets in a huge tangle at night and is a nightmare to untangle in the morning. If I miss one small knot, it'll be a horrible mat by the end of the day. I left it in the plait last night because I was too lazy to comb it out and it was surprisingly comfortable! Woke up this morning, combed the plait out and didn't even need to use a brush! Plus, it made my hair wavy! The rain soon straightened it again, but oh well!

I've tried tying my hair in a loose ponytail at night before, but it still tangles and makes it uncomfortable to sleep in.

Yes Eleanor it does prevent tangling and does make your hair nice and wavy, you will have to try putting it in rags next and have some lovely ringlets! A pic next time please.  

I think rags would take too long with my hair! A plait at the back only takes a minute, so it's easier to do in the mornings.

No photos, I'm afraid Far too self-conscious to be posting photos of myself! I think the only time I've ever posted photos is after I've had a couple of drinks!

Besides, it's just a simple plait at the back. Not exactly neat either!

I was joking about the rags Eleanor   Can you do a French plait it would be super wavy then,though it does hurt your arms a bit  

I plait Molly's thigh length hair every night before bed to stop it getting all knotted up. It works a treat and is always waved the next day.

Oh, silly me! I'll try a French plait this weekend. Not sure how it'll turn out though!

Yep Eleanor your right it's a nightmare if not done

I'd love to have hair that long, but I'd be too lazy to maintain it. It's down to the bottom of my back, but I'll probably keep it trimmed once it grows a couple more inches.

thankfully my hair wasn't one of the reasons i was thrown out of school

Yeah, schools are pretty strict on hairstyles!

Janey, if you trim a couple of centimeters off the ends every month, it'll actually grow faster!

yep and i ignored them too  

I used to have really long hair and it is really thick so having it tied up used to give me a terrible headache, since I've had it super short no more headache from pony tails  Noe all I have to do in the morning is just quickly run a brush through it and a bit of wax and hey presto hair done, I love it short  

I love the look of the Polish Braid, a bit like this:-

Sometimes it's worn further forward on the head - just a plait each side, wrapped round and pinned.
