SBT x ABD
Hello this is my first post.
We have a 15.5 year old KC Stafford boy that we owned since he was 8 weeks old. We also had an American Bulldog bitch from 12 weeks old to 2 years, unfortunately she developed a brain tumour and had to be PTS.
Our Stafford has been a dream to own, the AMB was lovely at times but a combination of poor breeding choice and the brain tumor lead to a dog that was nervous agressive.
Both breeds have great traits, and obviously some not so great ones - DA with the SBT and people Agression with the ABD (yeah sure not every individual dog and I dont want to get into that discussion).
In 'general' what do people think of the STB/ABD cross? Temprement, affection, trainability, inteligence etc.
Obviously I understand all dogs are individuals and different, but I am talking generically in relation to the cross breed.
Thanks

i would go out an cross an staffy and american bulldog becasue i dont think people should be doing that there enough crossbreed around these days also if your in a country which have banned pitbulls then they very likely to be class as an type.
i wouldn't mind owning one.

From what I've seen and heard, they seem to be lovely dogs. Personally wouldn't go out of my way to breed one, as there are already so many staffy-types in rescues, but there's a high chance that one could be found in a rescue, so I'd be happy to get one.

I think you're pretty safe with same style breeding for a favourable outcome as long as parentage traits are taken into account. Bull breed with bull breed or shepherd with shepherd and you can get a good but not definitive idea of the temperament of the pups. Most problem occure when you start to mix the breeds and the differnt way they follow prey drive.
As a rough guide there are five as follows,
Search
Stalk
Chase
Bite hold
Bite kill
Now imagin a top trumps card on each breed with a natural urge on a scale of 1 to 100 on each of those levels. Take a lab for instance, will score high in stalk chase and hold while a shepherd will score high on on stalk and chase. When you mix them up you risk getting a very confused dog with urges pulling it in very different ways. I know with my two thankfully they are both sane ish lol... but I know of a guy breeding pit and abt cross and a danish shepherd in the states for protection dogs and they are so loyal, willing to please yet brave as hell he cant keep up with demand from police and armed forces for this uber stable dog which will live with a the handlers family but go out and hunt down bad guys all day long. Sorry for rambling on but its something I take quite an intrest in.

Re: SBT x ABD
My boy Boss is a Staffy x ABD he is a very clever boy, quick learner, very friendly with people & dogs. like everyone said I wouldn't breed anymore crosses but if I seen one needing a home I wouldn't think twice as its a great CROSS.
