At the end of my tether!!
After our fabulous success at puppy training, jasmine has been unbearable today.
The biting is becoming a nightmare. We have tried yelping, which works for a few seconds, saying no, which also works for a few seconds, time out which is the same affect, ignoring her and walking away, which stops her but as you walk away she just chases you and bites at your feet!!
Also when we are all sitting on the sofa, she just constantly growls and barks at us, snapping at our feet and jumping around. I want her in the living room with us in the eve, but she is making it impossible. She has her toys in the front room, we all ignore her when she barks at us, I'm just at a loss to know what else to do!
I really don't want her always in her cage, but that seems to be all that calms her down and it's our last resort. I seem to be forever saying no and shouting at her, which I hate. Help!!!!

She gets lots of cuddles too, but she always gets over excited and the end result is always the same:-(

I think you just have to keep doing what your doing, a puppy can be hard work at times but you will get through it. Don't put her in her cage as a punishment though as it's meant to be her safe place What are you feeding her?

She is on Fish4Dogs topped with sardines/ nature diet puppy/ JWB puppy pouches. She has Arden grange treats for training rewards. I know exactly what you mean about the cage thing, I always tell her she is a good girl when she is in her bed, but I'm running out of ideas!

Aww I feel your pain. Puppyhood is hard work, really hard work I remember it with chills, but it's also very rewarding. Darcy was an awful biter, some days are worse than others i thought she would never learn but they do and it does get easier i promise

She sounds rather hyper, doesn't she?
How old is she now?
I would ct out all food/treats except the Fish4dogs (usethat for treats as well) and see if that helps, she may be reacting to something in the food.

Re: At the end of my tether!!
The biting will stop, trust me. Just persevere with her and you'll find it fades out. it's not uncommon for them to be like that, they all do it as pups to some extent. It took Minnie about 4 months to stop nipping (and the barking/growling when we were on the sofa and she couldn't come up) and going through the hooligan stage, but eventually she calmed down.
It will stop and it's all quite normal, just keep removing her from the situation and repeating, make sure she knows that it's not acceptable and make sure she knows who is boss!
Atb,
Paul

Re: At the end of my tether!!
All great advice above, definitely persist with what you're doing, don't let one day of set backs to let you down, they go through fazes where they try to push boundaries, most of us have all been there, and at wits end! But we all get there eventually, with a few hiccups along the way! Good luck

Re: At the end of my tether!!
All of them are different , Tommy was a little sod compared to Tilly but he's almost there now no nipping for ages but still loads of over excitement , jumper grabbing etc but we can see the improvements are very big , it is really just patience and everyone feels like you at some point .

Consistency pays off. Tip still have days where she gets and bites but it is improving. I found shouting to be anti productive, it only make them either over excited or if you have a more sensitive dog- scared of you.

Ah, Jasmine is a normal, completely gorgeous puppy
Yes they try our patience and we think they'll never grow up, but they do (and then we look back on the puppy days with nostalgia)
