Re: apologie's
shes going ok with training still being muzzled when out as she is still abit funny round other dogs but we are trying are best to get her used to them as when i am over the field with her i dont pull her away from dogsi let her go up to them or vice verser so she can be socialised better with them then just walking the other way so she cant see them but today me and my neighbour put the dogs either side of a glass front door so they could go right up close but obviously not touch as my neighbour is very nervous with her ebt as it got attcked by a jack russel

Re: apologie's
You need to start from scratch, basic training and build it up. She'll learn quickly, they really do. Patience and reinforcing and she'll be great x
Not keen on the idea of a glass door between, I think thats a little bit too much of a temptation to get aggitated x

Dont worry about asking questions, its what we're here for. I watched britains got talent, some dogs are so amazingly clever, I love it. Maybe we should all give it a go with ours and see what happens

Listen don't worry about asking questions, what do you think everybody else is doing?
The doggie dancing looks a lot of fun, but I was talking to a lady at Crufts who does it with her dog, and she says it's really hard work for you and the dog! It's something you have to build up very slowly. BUT, the resulting closeness between handler and dog is amazing! If there's anywhere near you where you can start it, then go and have a look.

Yep, thick as two short ones! He still hasn't worked out that the garden gate (through which he has gone every day since he was 7 weeks old) opens inwards!

well done for getting over your little wobble. i know when i first got woody i would sit and cry and wonder if i had done the right thing as he seemed to hate me and wouldnt listen and the mouthing was horrific - seeing him now makes all that anguish worth it. good luck

I'm guilty of that too. I also wonder if people are fed up with all my questions and stories, but as I say "If you don't ask, you don't know".........and the stories and updates, that's just coz I love my Roxy to bits and coz this is a Staffy forum I gather you guys don't mind reading my rambles
Good luck with everything

The thing is, although a forum like this is primarily for people to have a friendly chat and a laugh about their dogs, it's also to let other people have the benefit of our collective experience! None of us are experts (I pretty sure we don't have a vet on here yet!) but a lot of us have been through most of the things that can happen to a dog and his family, so why not share that?
It's really fantastic to know that something you've learned in the past has helped someone with a problem now.

Re: apologie's
yeah I wish I had a computer back when Jethro was growing up.. I would have asked so many questions.
Somehow we made it through, but I can tell you Jethro caused alot of headaches over the years.. and I used to think.. is this normal??. he was a pretty full on boy !!

Re: apologie's
Hi danni im going to appologise back to you cause you got a pretty hard time last time you were on and it wasnt called for, of course if you have to make a choice its your son. Its so hard to take on a dog that has had so many homes you deserve a medal.
Ive been there and got the t-shirt I had a mongrel when I first got married lived on a shitty estate my hubby worked 15 hours a day 2 small kids and a premature baby and cancer. Couldnt keep the dog in she jumped the 6ft fence with ease and knocked on the door when she wanted to come home in the early hours sometimes.
Backed out the last minuet and kept her till she was pts at 11 years old with kidney failure it upset me I always felt id let her down for not having the time and should have done better for her.
Im glad you have decided to try again though and what shay needs is rules and definatly pecking order staffords need a firm approach . good luck and if I can help in any way then ask
At one point enough was enough and w

Great news that your keeping him Dannii.
If you have a million questions in your head ask a million. Worse thing that will happen is no one will reply. Problem is we are all too nosey to see what the post is about and we all love a gossip so not much chance of that happening.
We are all learning. Every dog I have had has given me new problems to solve.
