Sick of funny people!! Empty Sick of funny people!!

I don't know if its just mine but bronson is really fussy... He's 5 month old and bounces round like a bull in a china shop lol anyway... Wen people come up to him he will put his bum in the air, chest to the floor ears back and his tail wags like mad... When he greets people he does mouth their arm (which I do warn them) it just seems to be his way of saying hello then he will lick them constantly he doesn't bite!!...
Some people are really funny about this and say to me he's biting me!! Which I proceed to tell them I did warn u, he isn't biting and if you don't like it don't stroke him!!!
Then others say typical staffy, u no wat THEM dogs are like!!
Which to my reply "what's a typical staffy?? A dog that lays flown for you to tickle his belly, who wags his tail and who lives with 4 kids and is treat like a fifth?? And a dog that is so fussy and loving that falls to sleep in his cage with my kids at the side of him??

Well if that's a typical staffy I'm gettin another!!! Big Grin:D

I know what you mean, but your dog should be trained not to mouth or jump up at people. To you it's a sign of affection - to others it's a sign of aggression.

Forget who is right or wrong, your dog should not be mouthing or jumping up at strangers!

I'm teaching him not to mouth!! And when I see him ready to jump up I tell him no ...he doesn't always jump up he's doing really well in his training with what he has learnt up to now with the do's and dont's and we are proud of what he has achieved maybe he has got a little way to go but he's 5 months old and we can't expect it all to happen at once! Smile
The mouthing part normally he does to people he knows when he gets over excited but stops when told!
Most of the time we only have to walk past people and we get sly comments and that's the part that I don't like Sad

It is hard teaching a young, friendly, exuberant Staffie puppy not to go Over The Top and will take some time at 5 months old. Everything and everyone is so exciting!

I take it that when Bronson meets these people he is on a lead?

We make our dogs sit when they meet new poeple. They never allowed to jump. My son has balance problems so we don't want the dogs to knock him over.

For strangers it is a bit frightening to have a dog mouthing at them and jumping on them. Even if warned; their view on SBT and staffies are most likely already negative.

I agree with Caryll on the mouthing. Just keep at the no biting training and good luck.
