Re: just watching house of commons
I don't know much about politics, it annoys me so I try not to pay too much attention! But all the MPs are all the same, the parties don't seem much different like I'm told they used to be! They are all upper class twits!

Re: just watching house of commons
there should be an national service and the army, the waster like you say should spend 5/8 year in the national service and then the option to join the army...
Re: just watching house of commons
I'm not political, I got disenchanted about politics a very long time ago. There may be one or two people who believe themselves able to make a contribution (with the backing of the electorate), but by and large I think the whole lot of them are glory-seekers.
By why a country as small as the UK is now should feel the need to meddle in another country's affairs to the extent of throwing bombs at them is beyond me.
It is terrible what is happening in Syria and I don't pretend to know all the whys and wherefores. I know I'm simplistic, I know I'm naïve, but we don't want another war

Oh I do care about kids getting gassed, Steve, believe me. Even adults getting gassed. It's one of the most horrific things I've heard of in a long time.
What I don't understand is why we, and other countries, should think that chucking bombs into Syria (with more loss of innocent life) is going to change anything.

Re: just watching house of commons
sorry Steve I don't see why we should jump on the bandwagon we have enough problems in our own country as it is , and all we do with things like this in Middle East countries is promote terrorism on our own doorstep

Re: just watching house of commons
There has already three SA soldiers shot in the DRC.
Using bombs is not "clean" warfare at all. My Dad likes going off about how using "old" weapons like swords were cleaner in his opinion. I agree with him sonmetimes.
Living in South Africa I have grown disinchanted and cynical about politics in general. All politicians are liars in the end.
