Too much?? :D
So Rolo is going to kennels tomorrow just for 4 days though, and i'm trying to pack his things.... but where do I draw the line? Where do I stop, so far, I have his cage (he always sleeps in it) His duvet bed, His pink fluffy fleece, his teddy bear (has been his cage companion from day 1). Then there is his food bowl, water bowl? His toys? I'm thinking his Kong and a stag bar will be enough? Treats? Then a lead, flexi or leather? Head collar or harness? I've already put his food in a tub ready to go. I've decided loading the sofa onto a trailer and delivering that may be seen as a little too much?? Aghhhh!! I have turned into an over protective, totally pampering Staffy mum!!! The Kennels will think i'm bonkers!
The dogs being delivered the other day just turned up on a lead with half a bag of food, what would you/do you send with your dog?

Re: Too much?? :D
Maybe a little over the top but have to say when we last had a dog in kennels it was before Tilly and Tommy and before I found out how mard staffys are , We would send our old boy Dusty with a bed ( that we made for him before the visit , invariably he would kill it whilst we were away and his food , they didn't want his bowls etc as the used their own , and also the same for leads , and he would also have his dearly beloved rubber chicken

when sonic stayed in the kennel (for 1 night) she had her bed, blank, toys, answer an item of clothes from each of us, food and treats. they used their own bowls and lead...and i think they thought i was a bit nutty when i phoned an hour after dropping her to see if she had settled!

Re: Too much?? :D
I've worked at kennels and taken frankie to kennels so have seen it from both ends! If its a good kennels they won't think you're mad!!! As its his first trip there they might not put all of his things in the kennel straight away, they like to make sure they don't kennel guard. I took frankie a duvet last time he went!!! But he won't sleep in a plastic bed so his lordship had to be comfy!!!

Re: Too much?? :D
Thank you Janey!! First time I've needed to use a kennels, my dogs always went to stay with my parents, but they are in their 70's now and Rolo is just to young and strong for them, i figure it's the safest place for him, plenty of walks and under floor heating! I was very impressed

Re: Too much?? :D
There are some really good kennels out there, with people running them because they love dogs not to just make money. I'm sure he will be absolutely fine. I've found a kennels that frankie seemed to really like, it's good to have one even if its just for backup.

I'm hoping he will settle that's all I ask, I need to have somewhere he can go over night that I know he will be safe that's the main part. It's really only once a year I go away and can't take him. This place has come highly recommended and I've been over and done 3 visits at various times, twice with him.

Of course you are mad. You've taken on a Staffy......'nough said. Bacchus stays with his breeder when we are on hols and last time I took everything including the kitchen sink with him. Guess what? He spent the 12 days playing with her 2 year old grandson and his toy cars.

I would send everything I would think Tip would need with our dogs usually stay with family or our family come to walk and feed the dogs.
