iggy is limping Empty iggy is limping

Post by rinerine Tue Aug 13 2013, 18:53

hey guys,

i just saw that iggy started to limp on his right front leg.
he went on a walk with his dad at around 3pm and when he came back he was normal.
but two hours ago he had difficulty walking and is limping since.
i checked under his paws and in between to see if something was stuck but there was nothing.

will it go away or should i be alarmed and call the vet ?

I wouldn't panic just yet, the vets will advise resting for a few days anyway so try that and if it doesn't get any better or is still intermittent then pop to the vets, it may just be a pull muscle, let us know how it goes Xx

Hi ive got the same problem with sasha we took her out around 1.30 using a collar as her harness is a little too small on the way home there was another dog behind that started barking. It really startled sasha and she started pulling on her lead to get away. She was walking over to have her dinner around 6 and I noticed that she was limping on her left leg. She let me look at her paw as like yourself I thought that she may have something stuck there but nothing and shes not yelping or moaning when she walks on it but she is hesitant to get up and run around she is normally a boisterous little puppy Sad

iggy is still running around in the garden as if he is ok but he is limping while running. i cannot stop him from running i took all his toys so he could rest ... that lasted 5 minutes then he went in the garden and dug up some holes again. his temperament didnt change still an energetic dog.
i know he has a strong pain tolerance so i guess the leg is more discomforting him than hurting him.

Sasha is better this morning running around the garden and house but every now and then she holds her paw up for a few seconds and then she is off again. I bathed her feet in salt water last night and again this morning. Ive got a feeling she has trod on something sharp although I do keep sweeping up the garden as quick as I sweep she out there digging and picking up pebbles. Glad to hear that iggy is ok Smile

I am glad to hear that he is improving Smile

In regards to whether it bothers him, the vet once said to me that if they are limping it is bothering them. How much they limp, how they respond to touch etc is what shows where and how serious the level of pain is though.

Hi i had the same problem with Thistle, she limped for over a week, I kept her on a long line so I could control her running around, and kept her walks to a minimum, which isn't that difficult for Thistle she is a lazy pup. She showed no signs of pain or distress, I give her one glucosamine tablet a day and cod liver oil, she stopped limping after 2 weeks, from what I can gather it's a common affliction with Staffies because they don't know when to stop and hare around like lunatics when their muscles and ligaments are still soft and growing, I'm sure she'll be fine.

Roman was had been limping for a couple of days but it was only after he had been asleep. Took him to the vets, he said he had a sprained elbow and gave him some anti inflammatory medicine. Couple of days later no limping. He said the reason he can run fine is because the joint has warmed up but when it cools down ie after sleep that's why he limps
