Marmite advert Empty Marmite advert

Post by Guest Fri Aug 09 2013, 20:47

I understand there has been some fuss about this advert:-

Personally, I think it's amusing, but apparently a lot of people are offended.

What do you think?

Marmite advert Empty Re: Marmite advert

Post by Guest Fri Aug 09 2013, 21:18

No  a lot of people don't eat the stuff, and Marmite have made some very funny adverts playing on that very fact. (I loved the one where a boy kissed a girl who had eaten some Marmite and he broke away and went "EE-urgh" and wiped away at his tongue Laughing )

But what do you think of their latest effort, where they are rescuing and rehoming "neglected" Marmite jars?   A bit of me thinks it is in bad taste (although it [i]is[i] funny) but a lot of people are incensed by it.

Hmmmm.

It doesn't offend me, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable. I can see why some people wouldn't like it much. It does sort of make light of the dog rescue centres.

In it's own way I suppose it's amusing.

Gotta say it did annoy me, and I am not to be offended as a rule. Sorry, uptight or not I don't like it.

Its a straight play on dogs being removed from homes because of said neglect.....

I for one do not find it particularly amusing. I'm not offended others do but I think its of poor taste (excuse the pun!)

It's a direct play on animal rescues taking away badly neglected animals & rehoming them.

That's it, Janey and Caryll, and why I feel uncomfortable with it (and more uncomfortable with myself for finding it funny).

Doesn't bother me.
If anything, I think it reminds people of the plight of unwanted pets.
Certainly doesn't tend toward any negative behaviour or treatment of the Marmite.

PS - I don't really like Marmite.
I like Twiglets though. Don't they have similar stuff on them?day dreaming

I think the idea behind it was probably well meant & if you can put the thought of dog neglect & rescue kennels out of your head it's probably mildly amusing, although incredibly silly.
