Hi from the tribe
Hi
just to say hello from me and the tribe!
We belong to Meko who is ten next month - slowing down a bit now (only a bit!) but most definitely the boss lady - she was the runt of a large litter and so small you wouldn't even recognise her as a staffy when we got her, she's developed nicely to the breed standard weight of about 17kgs. She doesn't like anything in the air - birds, hot air balloons, aeroplanes and will see them all off, can safely say we've never had a jumbo jet land in our garden since we've had her!
Then there's gizmo - he's four and a half - he was rescued by the RSPCA and has a host of congenital conditions that make him look most odd, his spine is fused from his shoulders back so he can't bend or twist and even gets into contortions sometimes to eat his dinner! He is a real comedian though and doesn't let it stop him doing anything. He's not very strong for a staffy and his favourite trick when he's losing at tuggy is just to lie down and let the others pull the tuggy and him around the house and garden!
That was it - we would have two to keep each other company and play, until there was a knock on the door and a neighbour had a staffy on a lead - she'd been running around the village for days, sleeping under a hedge and playing with the kids in the park but no one recognised her, which in a small village is very unusual. No chip, no collar and no one reported her missing to the police, the dog warden, the vets or any of the local websites or facebook pages. We plastered the area with photographs, all over facebook - told anyone who would listen that we had her and someone, somewhere must be missing her - but no a year on and she's still with us. We've called her Dixie, had the vet check her over and cure her ear infections and we've now had her chipped - she's part of the tribe now. She's not a wanderer or a runner - we can leave the side gate open whilst we're out the front or next door and she waits at the gate till we come back then goes to play in the garden, and off lead is a dream - so we can only assume someone somewhere couldn't keep her but by dumping her in a village she stood more chance of being taken in - strange logic but hey there some strange people about.
So that's us - happily owned by three staffs
