Getting Daisy today

Any advice on how we are to introduce Daisy with Belle as we are bringing Daisy home today? Thanks Karen and Belle xxx

Are you able to take them both out for a walk straight away, that way they can meet on neutral ground first as it were.

Hi we have a pup and older .we brought our 8 wk old pup hom 6wks ago. We introduced in the garden with our older one on lead as precaution . We also made sure our older one had space away from the pup to relax and same for pup. We made sure our older one got same amount of attention and its worked fine. Older one was a bit excited and jumped around being silly but did not hurt. Older one then seemed happy pup was not stealing place and calmed down..they are now firm friends and if anything our older is enjoying being pup again and playing lol..good luck

If she is a 8 week old pup this may help.

We were recommended by the breeders that we got Zoey off to use a cage to introduce them. they suggested taking our older dog out for a walk while we bring the pup in. (involved phoning ahead to get somebody else to take the dog out) but they said it would work just as well shutting them him in the kitchen or etc. The main thing was not to let the puppy roam just straight into the cage and then let your dog out and let them both sniff each other. and gauging your dogs reaction let them out.

A bit of a heads up you need to have confidence in your dog. as alot of the time it will look as if shes being very rough of hurting the pup but shes not. what she is mainly doing is showing the pup who is boss.

main advice i can give you is you need to learn when your pup has had enough as soon as possible. and when that happens separate the dogs. what that meant for us is get the pup on the sofa for slepp and cuddles while someone else takes our dog for cuddles.

and if shes not a little pup hopefully somebody else can help out with some tips.

Thank you all soo much for your advice, we took Belle with us to collect Daisy and she was fine and was kissing her all the way home in the car, like you said once in the house Belle did get very excited and was jumping over her and straddling her and mouthing her, nothing aggressive although it looks soo rough on the little one :(and to begin with the pup was cowering a bit but hasn't cried or yelped at all so just need to let Them both get used to each other  xxx
