Jess not eating
Hello,
Many thanks for this great site, have learned so much already, but still much more is needed!!
I'm slightly worried about Jess and her eating habits. I put her bowl down, she takes about 2 wee tastes and thats it......... This has gone on for almost a week......... Have tried five or six different brands, and she doesnt seem interested in any of them. She's very active, her coat is lovely and glossy and her outlook is fantastic - but so worried that shes not getting the nutrients she needs to grow. Am I just being paranoid? Please help......

Re: Jess not eating
yes the tuna is a great idea... I don't know many dogs who don't like it.
But you know what ....I had the same problem with Jethro when he was a baby. I remember taking him to the vets so worried because he hardly ate and was so fussy ! And the vet said he will eat when he is hungry.. no dog will starve when it has food available!
(And what a turn around, now, Jethro is nearly 12 and he eats like a pig and is always scabbing !! )

Re: Jess not eating
My Roxy is 17 wks and has become less interested in her food too. I give her dry food/biscuits in the morning and she will have one or two and walk away. She nibbles when she feels like it throughout the day and still has bikkies left by mid arvo. For dinner she has some "Tucker Time" which is a loaf/knob I buy from the vets or pet supply store (in Australia) plus a small amount of dry food mixed in. She LOVES her moist food.
I figure that as long as she is happy and healthy and thriving then i'm happy too. She is still growing, gaining weight, has a shiny coat and has PLENTY of energy.
Your Pup looks absolutely beautiful.
Maybe try the suggestion of the Tuna and see how you go.

Re: Jess not eating
Ive always mixed the dry food with a little bit of tuna/fish/meat/chicken/ and that encourages them to eat I find Iwould rather know they are eating then worry about them not eating

Re: Jess not eating
She ate 3.............yes 3 bowls of food yesterday, 2 with tuna and one with chicken!! Today so far she's had 2 and a bit, theres still some left in her bowl. Will give her until 3 o'clockish until I fill it up again. She really loves the tuna, will get a wee supply in for her(not in sunflower oil). Many thanks for the tip, I'm feeling much better knowing that shes had a good meal. Maybe its just my imagination, but she seems to have grown so much since the weekend, bulking out and looking like a staffy........... I'm a very proud mummy indeed xx

Re: Jess not eating
Thats great news
Why not in Sunflower Oil? It's the only one that I buy for Hollie, great for their coats

Re: Jess not eating
Great news
Blue was the same. That's why I switched him to raw thanks to the advice from Caryll. Since I switched him about 6 weeks ago he hasn't missed one meal which was unheard of when he was on dry kimble. Glad the tuna and chicken is working for you

Re: Jess not eating
For all those that buy Tuna Fish for your furkids, Tesco have got an offer on at the mo, 2 tins of their own brand for £1.20 (yet same but in a 4 pack is £3.50), buy the single cans and save £1.10. I just bought 16 cans
