Maturing
The last time I posted on here I'm sure a few people looked down their noses a bit at me thinking I wasn't giving Abby enough attention - mainly due to me being absolutely worn out from trying to set her boundaries and juggling full time work. Well I am pleased to say that over the past week she seems to have matured a lot and is now an absolute pleasure to be around. I think her playing with the dog walker's dogs has helped her learn a lot.
She knows when to stop play time and now will now lay on the couch with me in the evening while watching TV without trying to play non stop.
She also lost two of her front baby teeth the other night so have been giving her lots of frozen treats to help with that.
Here's a pic of her looking very cute:

Re: Maturing
Thats great to hear, I dont think people were looking down there noses at you, we are all dog lovers here and want what is best for the breed and its owners, we will do anything to support people in times of need.
Abby looks in fantastic shape, there is always a settling in period, everything you have said is on a par with me and Roxy who is of similar age to abby.
Onwards and upwards and persistence is the key.

Re: Maturing
Probably the wrong choice of words, I suppose it just got my back up a bit from being exhausted and thinking I was trying to do the right things. Yeah it is a major learning curve and without wanting to tempt fate for the first time owning a puppy I think Abby and I have done extremely well so far!

Re: Maturing
She looks fit and healthy anyway that is the main thing, most puppys and dogs sleep alot during the day so you do get alot of time out, give it plenty of toys and ones that keeps them busy such as kongs etc so they can go sit in there bed or something which lets you have abit of 'me time',staffys do like alot of attention but using such methods as kongs or whatever will distract them from wanting human contact and they will be more than happy to play with something on there own

Aww Abby is getting so big! What a great pic of her, she is sooo gorgeous! And that's great to hear that she is learning her boundaries! It all takes time, and with lots of persistence they eventually know when to stop pushing to get their own way

Re: Maturing
First time owning a puppy and a staffy at that!! You should be very proud of yourself. I have had dogs all my life but Bacchus is my first staffy and I found it difficult. Now you are finding, as I did that once they settle down they are fantastic, affectionate, fun loving dogs. Abby is gorgeous and a credit to you. If you haven't already done so, and have the time, why not enroll her in training classes, as they not only benefit from the experience of meeting other dogs, but are exhausted both mentally an physically afterwards.
