Date night Empty Date night

Post by jshrew Tue Jul 30 2013, 14:28

Well was beginning to give up on any chance of new relationships but met this new guy on the weekend and we arranged a date for last night Ledger welcomed him in no probs and plans changed to a couple of movies and a takeaway

Now Ledger has never not had 100% of my attention at home but he usually just curls up on the sofa or in his crate but was ott licking us both and pestering, he just wouldn't settle, managed to distract him with a chuck it ball that he chewed on for 4 hrs solid until he managed to bite a hole in it

How has anyone else gone about keeping their dog happy when introducing a new person to the house?

Erm with new people it tends to be family or friends that come over.

We have a dog gate up for if the boys (well harvey) are pestering and won't settle, he can still see us but settles nicely on his bed behind it.

I also make kongs up in the freezer if i know someone is definitely coming.

When frankie met my OH he humped him the whole entire time!!! He would not leave him alone!!! So much so frankie got more action than I did Wink
Frozen bones work well and as Ella said frozen Kongs. 18 months on and frankie still likes to sit inbetween us and he will kiss my OH every opportunity he gets!!!!
I think they like to 'vet' potential new people to see how their belly rubs, ear scratches and kisses are!!!

Luckily Ledger didn't do the humping but when behind the child gates he would cry and was definitely testing the fuss he could get when he was in the room with us

Will certainly stock the freezer for next time:P
