Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and I Smile I received some great advice in regards to pulling, when they start to pull, you need to stop walking, turn around and walk in the other direction, when they follow you without pulling then turn back and continue in your original direction. I found a harness made a massive difference as to walking with a collar and lead, but every dog is different. Hope this helps Smile

Hi I've moved your post to sbt chat so it recieved more views Big Grin

With regards to pulling I'm using the turn in the other direction if darcy starts to pull & as soon as I have any slack in the lead I treat her, if she pulls again we turn, so she learns that if she pulls she doesn't get to we're she wants to go, if she doesn't pull she gets a treat Smile

I've bought the Ezydog harness and lead which does help a lot - they're not cheap but worth every penny. I tried everything to stop them pulling and, as said above, stopping and starting does help. But when I take them to the beach nothing on this earth will stop them pulling Crying or Very sad  The Ezydog harness minimises it quite a lot. And no I'm not on commission (unfortunately) - just think they're brilliant Smile The leads I got are the Zero Shock ones with a bit of bounce in them.

Hello and welcome to the forum Smile

I used a canny collar after I found a harness didnt completely stop the pulling. Id highly recommend them!

You can buy them from Amazon and ebay

Hope this helps Smile

Ultimately the only way to get your dog to stop pulling on lead full time is with training and advice as above is great . However as an aid to training and admittedly sometimes as a longer term solution for more awkward dogs that pull when they see other dogs , cats etc or ignore certain family members and only really respect the one master ( Yes Tommy I'm talking about you Cool   ) then I too like Kita found the canny collar worked wonders . My daughter and wife tend to walk Tommy on his as having 2 dogs to walk is a little more demanding task and this makes it a breeze  ( Tilly is a little sweetie to walk and always been a good lead walker, not really requiring any training on this score she just "got it" ) . I started with it first when Tommy was young and going through his teenage phase but no longer require it , just a matter of keeping him in check so he knows I'm the boss and won't stand for his antics ( ok I admit it I just bribe him with high value treats Big Grin)

We are going to a big show in our town today and will take Tommy on his canny collar as he is a different personality when he's on it and much calmer , he realises its just not worth trying to go mad so as its a big public event I want to be there with 2 well behaved staffords and not be remembered as the bloke with the naughty one

We tried the Canny collar with and also the Halti, personally I prefer the Halti but it's all down to personal choice.

Rocky has the EzyDog collar and harness, the harness is now mainly for use in the car for the seat belt clip and he rarely has the harness on any other time.

The only thing that is really going to work for sure is constant training, I'm sure you will get there in the end please be patient.
