They're nightmares. We had loads of those on a firethorn in our garden years ago. We thought they were caterpillars at first.

kill one today i keep checking i think i may have couple big carrots here my pipe one may not be eat able but aslong the root is long i would class that an success

The birds would love these little blighters Steve, either to eat for themselves or feed their chicks.
Idea - pick them off and put them in a bowl in your garden (well away from the carrots!)

Yes there's a always next year Steve, we live and learn.
Just a thought; you are obviously not growing these carrots to be fresh tender young roots on your plate - are you intending to enter them for the local longest carrot competition?

i'm not ready for show yet maybe one day i love carrot i watch something on tv once and i tought i give it a go after the our cress topic
