Re: Kodas 1st season
Its not that bad, 4 weeks as an estimate from start to finish. I did walk Moo on lead and had a terrible experience and she was neutered after. Hygiene pants where a god send for cream carpets but we pretty much had to carry on as normal as I work and she fits in around that. Its not that horrendous just be very very aware....

Re: Kodas 1st season
Don't worry about the spaying - our 2 were absolutely fine, just a little quiet for a couple of days but they healed very quickly. The hardest thing is stopping them jumping

Re: Kodas 1st season
A season normally lasts for about 3 weeks after the first signs have started. Her vulva will swell & she'll lose blood (with some it's just spotting, with others it's quite a bit more!). The discharge will gradually become straw coloured & will then disappear. Some then produce a discharge again.
The first 10 days aren't too bad other than the discharge (get some hygiene pants for her!) and the fact that she might be a bit clingy/confused. The 2nd 10 days can be a nightmare! She will be receptive to males from around 10 - 17 days, and that period will last for about 3 or 4 days. That's when males will be a devil to keep away, and she'll become a complete tart!
I used to walk my bitches early morning/late evening, and away from busy areas for the first 10 days, but I'd keep them in for the next 7 or 8 days. Although the season usually only lasts for 3 weeks I used to take precautions for 4 weeks, just to make sure!

Re: Kodas 1st season
Katy sends for koda, she finished her 1st season last Friday. Thank goodness. Hated the hygiene pants, tried very way to remove them, chewing was the best. Definitely turned into a complete tart with her cocker friend timothy! Well supervised I must add. Thankfully back to her normal self now. Good luck
