Introducing a new dog
We are thinking of getting a new dog as Belle loves others dogs and it would be nice for her to have a play mate/companion, we would like some advice please?
When is the best age to introduce a new dog, should the new dog be older or younger and does it matter what sex the new dog is?
Thanks Karen and Belle xxx

Re: Introducing a new dog
If you introduce a puppy, it will allow the pup to grow up in the atmosphere of the house. It can help to prevent competition between the two of them.
Generally speaking, getting a dog of the opposite sex makes them easier to manage than getting one of the same sex.
This might help if you decide to get a pup:

You might want to leave it a little while longer Yours is 4 months, if I've worked it out right, so the age between the one you have now and a new puppy might be a little too close. It's easier if there's an age gap, so that the pup can 'learn its place' in the family. Then again, some people manage fine with two dogs of similar ages. Depends on the person.
