Red eye
Woke up this morning to find that Zeus's eye is really red, and he keeps scratching it with his paws and rubbing it off the carpet.
What could this possibly be? Are there any home remedies for this?
He's had a red line (looks like a burst blood vessel) in that eye for aslong as I can remember, possibly around a year, everytime I bring it up with the vets, they say its nothing. Could this be a contributing factor?

Re: Red eye
It could be that something has got in the eye and caused an irritation, have you tried cleaning with some cooled boiled water on a cottonwool pad ?
If it continues a visit to the vet may be in order.

Re: Red eye
If it's really irritating him I'd see the vet. It could be conjunctivitis & may need some ointment for it.
I doubt the red line has anything to do with it, although you could mention it.

Re: Red eye
Sounds like either he has conjunctivitis or a foreign object in his eye. Either way, I'd suggest taking a quick trip to the vets to get it checked out. Sounds like it's causing some irritation, so at the very least the vet will be able to give you eye drops or similar medication to administer.
Hope he feels better soon!

Aww poor Zeus, I hope the vet manages to sort things out, let us know how you get on

Thanks all, will have a look and keep you updated. Trying to put eye drops inside his eyes is such a challenge though, he completely freaks out. Last time he had Conjunctivitis, we had to give him antibiotics instead which managed to clear it up, simply because we couldn't put drops in his eyes.

If the vet prescribes eye drops, you should mention that to him/her. They might be able to give you the antibiotics again.

Re: Red eye
I would tend to go to the vets, Vinnie had this a while back and it was conjunctivitis so best to get some drops asap.
