boomer - Boomer ball advice Empty Boomer ball advice

Post by Millyjude8 Wed Jul 17 2013, 11:17

Feel a bit of a dimwit posting this but how did you get your dogs to plays with their boomer ball?

Our two couldnt be less interested in it, ive tried to kick it around with hem but they just dont want to.

Is it just our dogs or am i missing something really obvious?

It's 'hit and miss' i think, they either love it or they hate it. I played gentle football with it and Shéara soon got involved, mainly a lot of barking. He never bothered with it after so I sent it off to his rotty friend who LOVES it Smile

Many people do but I really don't like them.. Seen so many staffs go completely nuts with frustration over them I try to avoid them like the plague. Some dogs are more obsessive than others of course, and some seem to really enjoy them Smile I won't give Biscuit one as she doesn't like anything that she can't destroy and will literally hurt herself in the process of trying to rip it to shreds Rolling Eyes

Zeus wasn't too fussed about his at the start but he plays with it now and again, mainly when he's bored. Not his favourite toy though.

Only 1 of my 4 dogs will play with a boomer ball and it took ages for him to be interested in it - now he wont leave it alone.

Daisy has had hers for maybe 2 months and has not bothered with it at all. I have tried and tried to get her interested to no avail, was about ready to give up and give it to my sisters dog!

Then.......last night randomly she started playing with it, pushing it around and barking at it, I of course was made up Big Grin

Success at last, not sure how that helps you but just keep trying??

Thanks for the replies, will keep trying with it and see if they start to like it.

If not it may be off to the blue cross (the ball obviously not the mutts!)

You could try putting it in a cupboard and bringing it out again so they think its a special toy?
Frankie got really frustrated with his the first time he played with it and hasn't touched it since!

Chiquito only plays with his when I am there playing as well .. kicking, rolling etc gets him interested. The more noise it makes the better so we play on the cement or wooden beam verandah.

Also, not sure what the weather is like at yours, however Chiquito loves playing with his in the pool as well Smile

It really does vary according the dog - Tyson couldn't care less about his boomer, he'd much rather have a treat, but the neighbour's staffy goes absolutely bonkers with his, ends up having a great time.

The bigger the better Smile

Chiquito had a 6 inch one as a little pup, he still plays with it but can now get his mouth around it so we're moving up to the 10 inch one now.

I've recently chucked Blue's in a skip when he wasn't watching.
He used to kick it for 30 seconds then spend the rest of his day doing them annoying high pitched barks at it cos he is frustrated as he can't pick it up and pop it Laughing

Tilly was not interested in hers when we got it for Xmas inside the house , never though about it until one day Jenny brought it out into the garden and she went mental for it . Tommy can't have his any more though as he gets obsessive about it and starts randomly tearing lumps of grass out as he chases it around , would be quite funny to watch if it wasn't my garden taking a beating
