L2-HGA
Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I have a question for anyone who has a dog with L2-HGA. We all read the symptoms etc however I have never come across anyone who has has a dog affected and what happens and what to do if you have a dog affected with this disease. I believe i have a dog affected with L2- HGA. He is a BYB dog. I adopted him as a older pup.
I don't condone BYBing but I was not about to let a Stafford be put to sleep because he could not be homed because of his skin issues. He is my buddy and I love him no matter what. I was hoping someone could give me some insight in what we are going to be going through. Currently he has what I would call mild seizures. He has always had wobbly gait and sometimes he just gets exhausted when we go for a walk. He is respondent when he is having a seizure. He is still very loving and sweet. His seizures are about 1 every 2-3 weeks. He is 8 years old. If anyone has some info or help or suggestions. I have spoken to vets and they don't even know what I'm talking about.

Hi there,
Unfortunately we do

I'm sorry to hear you suspect your dog may have this, I really think you should see another vet as he will need medicating properly.

Re: L2-HGA
Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
Have you tried speaking to another vet about this and I'm sure you would benefit from some professional advice. Try another practice if you don't get any joy at your current one.

Re: L2-HGA
The easiest way to tell if your dog has L2 HGA is to get a DNA test done. It's a simple test, although quite expensive. It just involves a swab which you send to the AHT...

Just ask them for a swab kit & then send it to them with the payment & you'll get the results quite quickly.
Let's hope it comes back negative!

Re: L2-HGA
Hi, my staffy was recently diagnosed with L2HGA at the age of 5. It can be misdiagnosed as a lot of vets not heard or seen it.
Other members have posted the link to my post.
Like caryll said send off for the swabs and take it from there.
Best wishes and hugs
