hello everyone .
Hi all ,
I have had my adorable 4yr old Staffy Ruby for 4 mths now ( 1st bitch I`ve had )
she is quite demanding of my attention and whines when not getting her own way.
she has not been speyed . My main reason for looking in on the site today is to ask if anybody has experienced their dog scratching almost continuously , dragging her undercarriage along the carpet and swivelling round on her bum.

Re: hello everyone .
Hiya from me and Vinnie. Vinnie went through a stage of scratching and I changed his diet and now use an oil on his food which completely stopped it, but I am sure someone will be along shortly with some more advice.

Hi & welcome from darcy & me, I've not experienced this with darcy, but it could be due to food, allergies, mites? Can I ask what she's fed on? When was she last wormed. How much excersise does she get? Oh and had anyone mentioned..........we do love pics.

Hello and welcome to the forum from me and the kids
Best check over at the Vets , the dragging the bum across the carpet could be due to needing the anal glands clearing
My boy Tommy can be a bit obsessive at times with ear scratching but the vet checked him out last week and gave him a 10/10 so more out of boredom when he's not cavorting than anything

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
I would advise a trip to see the vet, the bum scratching along the ground could be either blocked anal glands or worming treatment needed.

Re: hello everyone .
Hi to all , and thanks for all the advice .
I was planning to take Ruby to the vet for advice on worming and having her speyed. so will book her in on Monday when they`re open again.
I take Ruby out everyday , sometimes very early morning sometimes early evening as I work with the tides .( fishing ) most walks are up to 2hrs , if I am short of time I will tire her out throwing her ball up the beach.
Her diet is about 80% pedigree vital protection biscuits and topped with anything we`re having , she likes mackerel , fresh prawns and crab and lobster claws .
When I 1st got Ruby from her previous owners she wasn't getting enough exercise or attention and I put the scratching down to boredom to a degree . I also was given some oil to put on her food . Even though she disliked it I finished the bottle .
But don't think it made much difference to the frequency of her scratching bouts.
She likes to run into the sea now its warming up , I wash her down with fresh water and towel her off after this.
And she has a tepid warm bath each week , I have been using Bob Martin gentle wash shampoo .
I will put up some Pics later .

Re: hello everyone .
Hi all , I took Ruby to the vets yesterday , she was weighed at 18kgs .
The vet took her temperature which was normal .
I was given a Milbermax wormer tablet .
Prednicare steroids , Rilexine tablets and some Advocate flea / mite solution .
I was told she may be allergic to certain foods and for 6 weeks to just give her the pedigree chicken formula food dry with no extras , So will see how she gets on .Thanks for all comments / ideas.
