slooooooowww dogies

for the first time in ages had a chance to sort the garden out, cut back all the bushes, fixed the fence from the other night and cut lawn etc. all thanks to the heat and the dogs lack of tolorance to it.
two weeks ago we were doing on average 8 miles a day, today how far did we get...1.2 miles and thats in shadey woods as well.
took em out in the park tonight and they just stood in the river with water up to there backs, even one of there best friends a GSD who usually gets them playing didnt make em move and he also just stood the in the river lol. it took us ages to get em out and even the sight of a squirrel only got a half hearted responce.
hope all your pooches are doing okay in the heat, and your all getting them jobs done youve been putting off because "the dogs" need walking  
suppose id better do all the little things on the car tomorrow that ive been putting off, like the brake pads  that metalic shrieking noise is to warn people to get out the way isnt it???

Darcy loves the sun but can only tolerate laying in it for a bit before she flops into the shade, on tonight's walk she was lively for the first 15/20 mins then the last 1/2 hour just plodded along and it'd cooled right down. Hence to say the grass is cut & strimmed & the garden is spotless.

Blue is a machine he will walk 24/7 through a desert or ice

Thats why I never get owt done Nathan......bloody dog's fault, if he just chilled a bit more I would of done all the jobs the wife has asked 1000 times for me to kindly finish

pmsl thats my excuse as well but they cant take the heat, take it down to sub zero figures were game on for lots of walks and no jobs done in the house so at least i can get things done in the summer.
they dont seem to have inherited that staffy "power through anything" attitude when it comes to heat, they are more likeley to just lay there and wave a paw in the air as if to say "fetch me a cool drink my good man"

can you imagine waking up next to that!!! I swear whatever I was drinking the night before I would even try and sniff it let alone drink it again

Harvey isn't bad in the heat and has been tormenting the OH all day

I was supposed to be taking Tilly out for a BD walk on her own this morning but we got up at 7 she went into the garden dtasrted panting and laid down in the shade to go back to sleep. So now Jen is going to take Tommy out alone as he is a little more tolerant and I'm putting Tilly in the car with me (after running up the air con for 10 mins ) to go down to PAH and let her pick up a present . Looks like a garden day . If we survive the heat ourselves we are going to have Tilly BD barbie today so will get some nice chicken and a few sausages and a bit of steak

I took Rocky out early this morning to avoid the heat, it was lovely and cool in the woods with all the shade from the trees. Will be leaving it until later tonight for the next one though.

Ohh you are all so lucky to have such nice warm weather! I want summer back

Shéara's certainly soaking up the rays, but really struggling with his walks. We only went out for a short one last night and no walkies this morning. It's still too hot for him when its 'cooled down' :/

well they both dragged there heals whilst on the walk again so another short afternoon one. took em out to the park early this morning and i think eveyone else in hemel had the same idea as it was rammed with dog walkers.
been out in the garden again sorting a few things and when i turned around there was Marley sunbathing....Laska was in the house layed out flat in front of the fan.

Just like Blue. He goes missing then you go outside and he's sprawled out like that on the patio. Think they got the meaning mixed up somewhere when they say it's a dogs life.

lol found a way to keep them cool..tad expensive though. was on half price sale or even i wouldnt have got it but seing as though i was sharing for three of us what the hell. and yes i know im normally anal about food but sod it they loved it, as did I, yum.

totally agree, whoever said that should have taken a look at the dogs here on the forum. sunbathing by day and spoon fed ice cream by night.... it must be so hard eh  

See. Ice cream as well and not any cheap rubbish, the good stuff. They got it made. I work all the hours of the day so the dog can live the dream

Mmm, I must admit it looks unlikely, I was just giving her the benefit of the doubt.

I remember a girl at work coming back from 2 weeks in Greece looking almost as dark as that - it didn't suit her but she was terribly proud, until her nose peeled and she had a pink nose in the middle of a dark face, not a good look on an English rose!
