Mortified to have read this

NSW Police Force in Australia posted this update today on the FB page, and I couldn't believe what I was reading. So saddened that people like this are out there

A man has been arrested over the alleged attack of two dogs in Queanbeyan on the weekend.

About 3pm, Sunday 30 June 2013, a cat was attacked and killed by two dogs in Jordan Place, Queanbeyan West.

Police will allege a man went to a house where the dogs lived and attacked both animals, stabbing them several times.

The dogs, a Staffordshire Terrier and a Pitbull cross Mastiff, were taken by police to a nearby vet for treatment.

A crime scene was established at the house and examined by police. A number of items were seized for forensic examination.

The Staffordshire Terrier remains in a serious condition while the Pitbull is listed as being in a stable condition. Both animals remain at the veterinary surgery receiving treatment.

About 10:15am today (Monday 1 July 2013), an 18-year-old man attended Queanbeyan Police Station where he was arrested and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.

Hopefully both dogs will be OK since receiving the treatment from the veterinary surgeons, how did this guy gain access to the property where the dogs where ??

It says the dogs killed a cat, maybe his cat? It is horrible that he attacked them. But if you are devastated that a beloved animal has been killed (and by dogs, it would be a traumatic death and sight) then you probably wouldn't see reason. Very sad.

And I know what is like to have a cat that has been killed by dogs, it is horrific and traumatic to see the dead cat after. I admit I wanted to kill the dogs that did it at the time, but when you calm down that goes away. Though I, in no way, condone what this maan has done to the dogs. After all the dogs aren't human and when they kill it is not through malicious intent, but rather their basic instinct.

yes it was the mans cat, but stabbing a dog? I see nothing right about that what so ever, the dog understands no different what so ever, animals kill in the wild everyday...as you said it is their basic instinct and very horrible for the man to have seen his cat killed in such a way, i would be devastated if this did happen, but its still sick that someone would have the heart to harm such innocent animals, if he really had a problem he should have taken proper steps and reported it. But i completely understand your point

Yes, it was disgusting that the man hurt the dogs, he should have calmed down and then reported the dogs to relevant authorities. I don't think there is any excuse to hurt an animal in this way. After all, it happened to me and I didn't go out and kill the dogs.
