Re: facebookers
Any idea of any if there friends or family? You could check their list for the first name.

Re: facebookers
yea but it would take months to do that how many steve in nottingham will there be 1000s you have to click each one
Re: facebookers
also if you stop for a break you wouldn't be able to start where you finish and you would have to start the search from the beginning so you couldn't do it that way
Re: facebookers
The search will narrow if you have things in common though .... friends, family or pages you like for example. If you have liked or commented on a post on a page they use or like that makes it even easier again.
It is actually pretty easy to track someone down if you want to, especially if their security and privacy settings aren't set really strictly.

Re: facebookers
There is one thing you can do, which is ensure that you cannot be searched in your facebook privacy settings, so even if someone knew your full name, first name etc, you wont come up in the facebook or google search results. also if people tried to track you down through other facebooks accounts on the friends list, if you go to settings you can make your friends list only seen by yourself, a lot of people tend to do this now so random strangers cant see who you are friends with!

that more likey becasue your part of the page
Re: facebookers
My FB is set as you have described above Maria - I also use my full name on my account which I don't use anywhere else (on the forum for example) and have no location attached to my account.
People still find me though .... when I am tagged in a post by a friend that  becomes visible to their friends, if that friend has also tagged other friends in the same post it becomes visible to friends of their friends as well. When I post on a public page (like the Staffy forum FB page) that becomes a visible public post that is placed on my friends wall and is therefore visible to their friends as well .... facebook is specifically designed as a social network, being anonymous isn't really their thing!

Re: facebookers
Exactly, in reality, if you don't want to be found, don't be on Facebook. Someone posted on here the other day that Facebook had a glitch that released private info about users such as contact details emails and telephone numbers....you never really know who get their hands on your info!

Re: facebookers
scary isn't it well for females anyway you may chat once to someone and they took it the wrong way and just track you down like that
Re: facebookers
It is definitely scary!! Everyone has to be super careful these days. Especially when you tag where you are, if someone is after you, they can just show up!

Re: facebookers
Twitter, linkedin etc are all the same .. great for networking etc but horrid if you want to hide!!
As a teacher I find the worst part of FB is my students .. by law I am not allowed to have them as friends, something I make them all aware of at the start of each year - still get way too many friends requests from them though. They always know the ways to get around whatever privacy you think you have too!
Even something as simple as our school newsletters are an issue though - anything you put on the web can come up in a random search by anybody. Have you ever tried googling yourself to see what comes up ... interesting little exercise for anyone who spends a good bit of their personal/work life on line

Re: facebookers
that why i alway say if people dont want other people to know stuff dont put it on the net
Re: facebookers
Agreed Steve .. I do think that part of the problem is that people do not realise that EVERYTHING they share on the net (that is on FB, in a forum, on things like youtube etc) can be searched and seen by others. People have got so used to the internet as part of their daily lives that their brains don't kick in anymore when they are using it ....

Re: facebookers
like with photo they upload without any copyright on it people use it and then cry copyright
Re: facebookers
Nice example ...
People who post the running/walking tracks or maps they use or post when and where they are going on holidays always get me ..... I always wonder do they scream out 'look here I am, I'm all alone' when they are running or put a sign on their front door asking people to break in when they go away

I don't do FaceBook myself but wouldn't want to see any one getting offended in any way by others.
