Bacchus' Good Citizen

Bacchus got his Bronze Good Citizen Award at training last night.

We go for Silver next week. This is a big step up, especially for a pup of 11 months, but hey lets go for it. The instructor put us through some of the off-lead requirements last night.

Wait and recall from the full length of the hall.
Full circuit of the hall at heel off-lead with several dogs and handlers in the centre for distraction.
2 minute down stay with the handler at least 5 paces from the dog.

Proud to say " The Wee Man " sailed through.

do you mind me asking? whats the story with the god of wine name for your boy? i only ask as im a big fan of history and it intrests me alot especialy mythology. i love him btw he is stunning and a real credit to you and you should be very very proud of him

Thanks Nathan. Yes I am veeery proud of him and we do put in a lot of work. I try to put in a couple of 5/10 min training stints per day, taking care not to bore him. But I have to say I've never had to put so much work into training a dog before, he can be a stubborn little bugger. Wish I could say there was some profound significance to naming him Bacchus but I just liked the name. He was originaly going to be Reuben but we decided that with our grandson being Reece, one of our Siamese being Rufus ( after Rufus Wainright ) and me being Rodger we had quite enough Rs in the family. It was then a toss-up between Bacchus and Cicero and we decided on Bacchus. Also I feel that a two,rather than a three syllable name serves better for gaining a dog's attention during training.
