Good for you Hayley, it will be great fun! I wish I could join you.
Don't underestimate yourself, you may not be the best horse rider in the world - who is? But what I have seen of your vids and photos you are at least half-way there, and that's more than good enough
Are you going to ride bareback? I used to do it a lot, although it's not quite so comfortable on a horse that has sharp withers! (Eeekk)
I remember your saddle troubles very well - I'm so sorry you haven't been able to get it sorted. I feel so angry for you - against the eBay seller and the saddle-maker.
When is the ride? I will be there in spirit!

Re: uhoh
Its the 28th July so a fair bit away. I'm trialing a heather moffett saddle on thursday that i might force myself to buy lol
im going with friends so that always helps lol but it is also the place where the woman who bought my horse works so that might be awkward! lol
i ride bareback sometimes yes, but i honestly have just lost my oomph. i cant be bothered and i dont want to. i have been longlining my big fella in hopes of maybe getting a trap for him

tbh I have no idea what a heather moffett saddle is, but I hope it works out well for you. I just wish you could get back your outlay on the duff saddle.
It'll be great riding with friends - oh it will be such fun. Look forward to it, it's not so long away. And if you have had enough on the ride, then stop - you won't be the only one, for whatever reason!
Longlining and traps are outside of my experience, I've never driven a horse in either, but I'll bet you can - go for it Hayley!

Re: uhoh
Memory foam saddle! Sounds like a great idea! I got a memory foam mattress 4 years ago - at first it was very firm and I thought, where is the comfort? But now it has a Lynda-shaped indentation which it has remembered and not forgotten
Fingers crossed that it works out for you and your odd-shaped horse!

Re: uhoh
You will have fun I am sure Hayley - especially as you're going with friends!
Doesn't matter how long it has been since you rode, once you are back in the saddle it will all come back to you Unfortunately so will the oh-my-god-it-hurts-to-breath backside pain once you get out of the saddle, but I am sure it will be worth it
