Kong fillers
Hello
I was wondering what all you people fill your Kong toys with and what size of Kong you got? i looked at the manual thing which went it weight and dog type, there was no staffy so i got bull terrier size, because he is only 7 months and massive already i got him an extreme black one in large and seems a good size
cheers

Re: Kong fillers
Rocky has the extreme one I think it's called the black one.
They can be filled with virtually anything (OK within reason) and either frozen or eaten straight away.

Re: Kong fillers
Never got Max one of these untill about three weeks ago when he was still suffering with his toe, the first time was ok (stuffed a Dentastick in it), the next time he had it he ripped a chunk of it, then the third time an even bigger chunk ... cant really let him have it now

Re: Kong fillers
I soak a bit of his kibble with water and mix with a little natural peanut butter. He's only 12 weeks so I have a medium Kong. He hasn't managed to get the hang of it yet but has fun trying!

Re: Kong fillers
I fill mine with treats, chicken and rice, and watered dry food. Sometimes freeze, not all the time though.

Re: Kong fillers
Most days we put peanut butter mixed with some of her dry kibble and then freeze it! We also put treats or chicken and rice! Not all the time though only as a special treat on occasion! She goes crazy trying to get everything out and it keeps her occupied for at least 20 minutes!

Re: Kong fillers
I cook and mash a sweet potato then mix in a tablespoon of peanut butter.
Bacchus gets his every night last thing when he goes to bed, only occasionally frozen.
If you use kibble make sure it's subtracted from his daily ration to avoid him getting over-weight.

Re: Kong fillers
In summer I make a vegie and chicken broth/stock left over from her dinner or chicken, veg and rice. She loves them and it does keep her busy!
Some great ideas- Cheers everyone!

Bought the Puppy kong last night for Cooper, the big blue one, filled it with wainwrights kibble and melted puppy buttons all mixed together - stuffed it, put in fridge and he literally was interested in nothing else when I gave it to him - he hardly got anything out of it but the concentration in trying was amazing - Ive never seen him so focussed!

Re: Kong fillers
Thats good you will be thankful he likes his kong more than your new shoes do you mash the kibble or keep it pellets just? sounds like a might try it as Boss isnt the biggest fan of peanut butter.lesley1802 wrote:Bought the Puppy kong last night for Cooper, the big blue one, filled it with wainwrights kibble and melted puppy buttons all mixed together - stuffed it, put in fridge and he literally was interested in nothing else when I gave it to him - he hardly got anything out of it but the concentration in trying was amazing - Ive never seen him so focussed!

Re: Kong fillers
I've just prepared a Kong for Rocky with his kibble, some water and chopped carrot with a little peanut butter. Just popped it in the freezer for him to have later.

Re: Kong fillers
Im just swapping over from pets at home to wainwrights so Ive got both here so just kept them whole (pets at home bits are larger and wainwrights are small tiny pellets). gives a good mixture and textures
