hi from cumbria
hi I have a nearly 6 yr old blue brindle staffie , hes been the best thing ever until a few mnth ago his behaviour is changing, ive been to vets with him and he sez its just a terrier thing! weird if u ask me! if someone knocks on door he dives on me putting all his weight on me n staring!and trying to like hide under my arm! doesn't listen to anything, my partner has tried with treats n allsorts to distract him! at fist I thought he was going to bite me ,he didnt look right in himself! but now I just have to push him off which is a task! any one has any ideas? he does it with my partner sometimes but not as much. then in a split second he changes back to normal! when I walk to answer door his teeth chatters n he like mouths my hands!

Hi and welcome to the forum from Chiquito and I
Not sure about the behaviour you are describing - sounds like it could be excitement or possible anxiety .. did you notice when the behaviour started? Could it be that something happened to trigger it - a strange person coming, something happening as someone arrived etc?
I would think that pushing him back from you would be adding to the excitement/anxiety, as would giving him treats and making a fuss - ignoring the behaviour (as much as possible) would be a good start as this removes the reinforcement he is currently getting for it
Personally I would place him on lead when someone arrives and/or move him away from the door to calm down when they arrive. (Remember not to reward him for the behaviours you do not want him to be showing though - lots of positivity and treats for sitting, waiting etc not for hiding or diving on top of you!!). You could also give treats to the person coming through the door for them to give to him once he is calm ... this will associate the 'scary noise/person at the door' with good things
