Hello all
Having been looking at the forum since we had Bella from 10 months at the end of Dec 2012. Finally plucked up the courage and took the time to register, not sure if I have done that right - but would like to post a question to try and get some help. But first I would like to explain a bit about her.
We got Bella from Battersea, but luckily she was only there for a couple of nights before we picked her up. In the space of one week she was with her original owner, then a new couple and then Battersea and then us! So things were tough for all of us in the beginning and to be honest we nearly gave up(doesn't make me feel good thinking about it) because of her behaviour. Anyway 6 months down the line and lots of time and patience and help from a dog trainer it is brilliant, Bella is not like our other female staffie "Blue" who died last year, but she was 4 and now we have come to realise that they are just different - well so we all thought,10 days ago she was spayed and chipped, booster vacs and ears cleaned. Well since then she has become a mischievous so and so. A growl at my daughter(she is 23) when she was chewing her kong (this wasn't play time) while we were sitting on the sofa in the evening. Escaping from the garden in to next doors through the tiniest hole, pulling out the contents of the sofa cushions(she has never done this before) Biting and chewing her lead when I have put her back on it( we have been doing a lost less exercise following the spay) and she has only been let off in a confined field with no other dogs around, as her stiches come out tonight. She seems a lot less receptive to commands and generally her behaviour has taken a step back.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Sorry for the loss of Blue, but great to hear that you have a new staffy! Sounds like some troubled times, im still quite new being a first time staffy owner and still have a lot to learn, you definitely have come to the right place to get great advice and even just to vent the frustrating times, or show off the best times! Sure the members with more experience with have some really good advice on what to do, it sounds like she might be a little bored though? maybe because you have to take it easy with her after being spayed, staffys are really active and she probably just wants to have fun, in our eyes its in all the wrong ways! Hope it all goes well for you

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
Sounds like Bella needs some time to adjust to her new surroundings and get used to her new family., she has been through quite a bit as you say in a few weeks so this will reflect on her behaviour. After time to settle in with you all I'm sure things will get better.
Please do not hesitate to ask any particular questions you may have in the relevent forum section, I'm sure the Training & Behaviour section will become very familiar to you as it has with me. All staff and members here a very friendly and helpfull and many have been there before.

Hi and welcome from me and Daisy
I does sound like she may be having a tough time adjusting or simply just pushing boundaries. Patience and consistence when training should hopefully pay off. And as said above back to basics if needs be.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
She's bored & hyper! Hopefully, once she can start to get more exercise again she'll improve. Try exercising her mind instead of her body - hide traets around the room & get her to sniff them out.
