Hi Gaz and welcome to the forum , you do realise we are nothing to do with the other forum don't you ?? Sure 1 or 2 old members may have drifted this way but none of our old staff members would have been involved in that one.

haha it wasnt to bad a forum,,i learnt alot and spoke to some good people from around the world.
few Qs if anyone can shed some light as ive been out the loop for a while,
whats the situation on kennels/breeding for the stafford breed,,is it still as bad as it used to be?,,,,my local kennels dont seem to have as many they used to
have good standard blues been accepted into the show world and have they come down to a more suitable price?,,,because i want one!!

Re: old forum members?
The amount of staffies in kennels and rescue centres is still very bad, I'm afraid. A lot of them are turning away staffies now because they have too many.
The prices of blues will vary. A lot of breeders still (both backyard and serious) charge a lot more for blues. These links might help:

It's still very bad. As Eleanor says, a lot of kennels are refusing to take in stafford/stafford crosses because they are too full already.
Having said that, there are some very good, responsible breeders out there who make sure their pups not only go to good homes, but will take them back at any time if it's needed.

Blues have always been allowed in the show ring, but the amount of quality blues is still small because 'breeders' have jumped on the bandwaggon & are breeding for colour, as blue is so popular at the moment - over half of all puppy registrations last year were either blue or fawn (the red dilute). lso, the Standard states that a dog must have a black nose, and blues just can't have that so they'll always be penalised.
A good breeder won't charge more for a blue dog, but also won't breed specifically for blue - ie won't mate two blues to get guaranteed blues in the litter. Colour should always be secondary to quality and health.

cheers for the reply
its a shame the uk hasnt got a grip on the kennel problem but i suppose stafford breeds will always be one of the main ones getting shipped about,,,,seeing as there the most popular dogs on council estates,,,and these type of people(including me) move house, loose jobs and generally mess things up more than most people,,,and please dont take offence if you own a council house iam not directing this at anyone here its just the harsh truth of the problem.
and the situation on blues hasnt changed abit then,,haha,,,they were about in shows but there always was the argument about nails and nose's,saying that iam sure theres a few blue champs floating about arnt there?
and your right in saying health before colour but you will always have a market for colour,,,,i wanted a black stafford so thats what i looked for,but i also looked at breeders and did my research before making a purchase,,,at the time we was looking for a pup but found billy at 2 year old he was still young so took a chance on him.
i would love to purchase a true solid blue bred from two blacks,,,hard to find though
