blimey Steve, you do think up some questions!
If I HAD to be a bug, I think I'd go for being a stag beetle, as being rare I'd be less likely to be trod on and more likely to be cossetted.
Or a Maybug - flying around full of the joys in one of the best months of the year, and then phfft - gone.

Monarch butterfly.

have to be a good old fly , might not live very long and end up with my backside comin out of my mouth getting smashed up by a motorbike , but I could spend my younger days wisely as a peeping tom

In fact, I was once asked this question in an interview and when I didn't even hesitate to say a fly it came as a shock to the interviewer
