Going mad at the sunshine
Well I love this beautiful weather apart from the fact that it makes my dog go loopy. When I come down in the morning I open up the conservatory door and she runs out to chase the light it makes in the garden, I go make a cup of tea and she would spend (if I let her) the rest of the day pushing the door with her nose to make the light go across the garden, if I shut that door, she then finds another door within the house where the sunlight is shining and pushes that and goes mad around the living room, jumping up wherever the light shines, telly, sofa, kids anything or anybody.
Its driving me mad, ive sent her to her basket, made her sit by the side of me, got her boomer ball, kong anything to try and keep her calm but she wants nothing but the sunlight.
Apart from shutting all the doors and curtains in the house any ideas. Im sure the british weather will put a stop to it soon enough though lol.

Re: Going mad at the sunshine
This sounds frustrasting, it is a fixation on the light. Many dogs have this I think it is linked to their prey drive. Very difficult to break this habit I had a friend with a Rottie that used to do it constantly, with any reflection at all. I was very annoying! Not sure that they ever broke it! It is a form of OCD and so they dog can't really help doing it. All you can really do is try to minimise her coming into contact with reflections and distraction therapy. This article is quite good.

Re: Going mad at the sunshine
thank you, a good read and we have tried some of this but it doesn't appear to work. Ive noticed in the morning, she jumps up, gives me a quick lick and is waiting to go out to chase shadows. Will try more trick training and see if that does the trick, its hard when you're carrying on with your daily routines and kind of leave her to her own devices
