Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
Your dogs are like me when it comes to food. No good asking them if it's good cos like me everythings good
Blue is a fussy bugger. He won't eat mince either so restricts me to just the chunks. So blue has chicken/beef/tripe/liver/kidney & spleen chunks coming Monday. Have you tried the pancreas chunks from there? Twice as expensive but gonna try on the next order

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
Ahh thank you :-)
What is sweatbread ? Never heard of that before
How often do you give actual chunks of meat like the venison chunks ?
Would you mind giving some examples of the kind f meals you have fed from this order
Do you give a bone a day from like te lamb pork or big bone bag and then accessorise around it ?
I plan to get more in to bones on my next order :-) xx

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
sweatbread is thymus gland
I give whole animals or chunks of meat, instead of mince like you have been doing. I try and keep mince as a very little part of their diet
I give some sort of bone each day yes as that suits the boys.
I actually try and feed whole animals the most, OR use bones and whole chunks of meat to mimic that.
Some of the boys meals over the past week for you (fed once a day)
pork tongue chunk, chicken wing and carcass
kidney, tripe/heart mince and lamb bones
pork bone and beef spleen chunk

Erm personally the venison bones are the meatiest BUT you need to work through the meats if you haven't yet as venison is a very rich red meat. So go through the lamb/pork bones first

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
Ella, maybe you can help - I am about to move house and want to get a freezer that can cope with all the raw food I feed rupert. Plus all the food I feed myself. I was thinking of getting a normal fridge and then a tall larder freezer. What do you think would work best. At the moment I have a standard fridge freezer but it is always a mess or stuffed too full.

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
I use chest freezers I find them easier and have 2 for the boys food.
Eventually I'd love a huge chest freezer and do away with smaller ones but no room at the minute

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
Ella, can I just ask, I have been reading a lot on raw pray model lately and this is what I am aiming for with Max, however the thing I wonder is about the 80:10:10 ratios and the bone content. I know that these are not exact and bone can be a bit more and especially in the beginning but it seems like you and a lot of other people I see feed a fair bit more bone than 10%, is there a reason for this and what do you recommend in regards to this?

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
Yep I feed alot more then the 10% as do most people
If you think about a whole animal alot of the time it is more then 10% bone, like rabbits very boney.
I obviously feed prey model and they get as many whole animals as I can get, the ratios just sort themselves out, and they are balanced over about 2-3 months not each day

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
I'm same. I feed more than 10% bone. Most days I feed 200-400g meat and 100-200g of bone, so that more like 33%. But without sounding disgusting you can tell when they have had too much bone as there number 2 is a piece of white chalk so the next day just feed meat to balance it out

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
Thanks guys!
So it doesn't really matter if I mix a meal bone and meaty meat or if I feed one meal just meaty meat and one meal bony meat? As long as it kinda balances out in the end?
Can I also ask, what are good "meaty meats" to get? Most things I have so far are quite boney.
I would want to feed whole animals eventually but my housemate would kill me if she found whole animals in our freezer lol. I think she is struggling as it is with all the raw meat lol. We also live in a apartment with no backyard so everything has to be fed inside. So for the time being I have to try and put the ratios together myself with parts of the animal.

Re: Delivery day!!!! - lots of photos :)
If we leave whole animals aside as thats self explanatory...
What the boys get is: 1 meal a day -
Some sort of boneless meat i.e mince, boneless chunks etc etc
Some sort of bone in meat
Once a week i swap the boneless meat for offal i.e liver one week, kidney etc
and thats literally it
For boneless meat i give things like, heart, tongue, tripe, meat chunks all these are boneless

Alright, yep it seems easier and easier the more I get into it! Still introducing meats one by one so not worrying too much about ratios just yet!
Sorry just thought about one more thing that I have read different things about. I give fish oil tablets since that seems to be recommended, but I have read that fish oil can lead to vitamin e deficiency and that you should supplement with vitamin e because of this (I have also read that this is not true though). What do you think? I read about a dog dying from vitamin e deficiency because of this so that got me a bit worried?

Oh i DO supplement with vitamin E
I alternate fish body oil with salmon oil, just to mix it up, but i do give vitamin e capsules. Not everytime i give them the oil but maybe every 3rd time

Perfect thank you! I probably rather give them even if they do nothing than being concerned about it!
