Re: Furminator
I know a few members have them including me, they are great at removing fur, darcy does hate it though, I've know idea why, perhaps it's the feeling of it on her fur, who knows.

Re: Furminator
I had one for my rotty and it works wonders, to use it properly you have to spend a good hour furminating. I wouldnt use on on Shéara though with him being so short haired, the comb might scratch his skin. Id stick to a soft bristle brush personally.

Re: Furminator
i haven't used one but check Amazon for prices first before you go buying from the pet shop. This is taken from a customer review on Amazon:
We have used this many times on our very hairy dog who sheds like a good 'un! We were staggered at how much hair came off.....!
However, as a caution, it is tempting to use it too vigourously. We did, and caused some lesions on her back, which have taken ages to heal.
So, gently does it!
Other than that, very effective.

Re: Furminator
We got one for Dempsey a while ago. Usually wouldn't for short coated dogs, but his fur is unusually long for a bully, particularly along his back. He has a mix of soft, downy fur and harsh fur along the back. The softer hairs get caught up and are difficult to get rid of, so the furminator really does the trick.
You do have to be careful though, particularly with short coated dogs. If you don't brush lightly, they can get brush burn.

Re: Furminator
thanks for your views..was not sure because he had a short coat but as a few have said gently does it. we also tried a new shampoo which was recommended by someone on here[sorry cant remember who] called quistel and what a difference his coat was so soft after drying, very impressed. we also bought velvet coat[johnsons] for a rub down every now and again to leave his coat smelling fab great products..

Re: Furminator
I use it on mine (one made for short hair). you do need to be very gentle with them as they can irritate the skin (never press down hard). I just gently use it and then brush with another, more standard type to clean up. I don't use it exclusively. It does help with cleanliness and keeping some of the stink off.
